Scrap the Girls August DT share

Wow, it's August - yay only one more month of horrible winter to go. It is so cold and miserable here, the only thing one can do is to scrap. So here is the new challenge at Scrap the Girls:
I found this challenge a real challenge at first, and I had a bit of a struggle needing to redesign my ideas completely. Anyway, I eventually came up with this little layout, which I was happy with in the end. In the end I was inspired by the colour, and the stripes on the zebra.
This month, Scrap the Girls is teaming with Charms Creations, with these wonderful charms inspired by the moodboard. They matched perfectly, I love them. so be sure to take a look and see what you can find in the shop.

Scrap the Girls March challenge

Well look at that, it's March - slow down 2018.
We are back at Scrap the Girls with an awesome moodboard for March:
Now don't let the feisty face put you off, remember there are other things to be inspired by.
I didn't have an appropriate feisty female photo to use, so took a different take to this challenge. I used this photo of Addison driving her toy car, with that look of get out of my way on it. I loved the primary colours, and that's how I attacked this layout.
So a bit of texture paste and Ken Oliver colour bursts to the background, then the cute papers and die cuts. I also finished the layout off with some wood veneers and a Charms Creations arrow
Just have fun with your layout, that's what I did.
Look out here I come

Scrap the Girls October challenge

The new month of October, brings us another new challenge at Scrap the Girls and also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so our pink challenge is a tribute to this cause:
No automatic alt text available.
Even though I have used a photo of a young girl, it is never too young to be breast cancer aware, we should talk about it with our daughters and grand-daughters.
I used the quote and the handbag as inspiration for my layout, with the pink embellishing. I thought the quote was perfect for the photo of my friends grand-daughter, Addison. It is a clean layout, no mixed media, I decided it needed none. I've got lots of pink scattered over the layout with flowers, and also the Charms Creations heavenly heart and terrific tab. I have used a Scrap FX chipboard dress form, which I coloured pink. The handbag is from the Fancy Pants paper collection that I used for the layout.
I hope you have fun with the challenge.
Do you have this in pink

White with 1 July challenge

Well it is now half way through the year, and time is flying by, with a new challenge at White with 1.
No automatic alt text available.
and some inspiration:
No automatic alt text available.
So I really don't like scrapping with purple, and I know I am not alone. It wouldn't be a challenge though if we weren't challenged, right? So this is what I have come up with. A layout featuring a very cute little girl, Addison, sipping on a baby cino.
Baby Cino
So when you are not particularly drawn to a colour, having appropriate embellishments in your stash proves tricky. But I did manage to find some bits and pieces, including a crochet flower, a flair, tag and a Charms Creations heavenly heart. I coloured some texture paste with some purple ink to give me my background.
So I hope you give this challenge a go.

White with 1 May challenge DT share

So it's time for a new challenge at White With 1, and here is the challenge, deep black and a moodboard:
Image may contain: night
No automatic alt text available.
Now I had the perfect photo for this moodboard, a photo of a girlfriends grand-daughter, Addison. We went for a visit to a garden last year, and there was a giant chess game, Addison decided to play it by herself, so I very much took inspiration from the chess pieces. This layout fell together really well for me, I ordinarily struggle with black and white.
With the use of the checkerboard stencil for the background, I was able to create a "chess board". The rest of the embellishing was with die cuts and flowers. I also added a Charms Creations diamond embellishment (no longer available).
I hope you join us for this challenge.

Scrap the Girls February DT layout

Hi everyone, I am pleased to announce, I have been selected to join the design team at Scrap The Girls. It's very exciting, as I have been wanting to join this team for a long time.
So for the February challenge, there is an awesome sketch to play along with:
How cool is this sketch? For those of you who love multiple photos, then this is up your alley. For those of you who struggle with multiple photos, give it a go, you will be surprised.
I chose photos of a friends daughter and granddaughter, they were pulling faces in their selfie photos - great mother and daughter bonding, lol.
I loved getting creative with this layout, even used purple, which is the colour I hate to use the most!.
I sprayed with glimmermist and stamped around the border, also added texture paste. My layout features a spotty heavenly heart from Charms Creations.
I even dug into my old stash and found some transparency flowers that I think worked.

I hope you join in the fun of this challenge.

Funky Flairs Studio Creative Team share #1 January

Well the new year sees me on another new creative team, this one is for Funky Flair Studio. So today, I have one of my 2 monthly shares for you.
This layout is of a friends grand-daughter, she is a delightful little girl. I loved these photos of her enjoying the simplicity of bubbles - who doesn't enjoy bubbles?
Bubble Fun
I took inspiration for the layout from the colours in the photo and from the bubbles, creating my own "paper bubbles". I used a sketch by Laura Whitaker from Stuck?!Sketches - sometimes I get stuck on how to create a layout, lol.
The flairs I have used are from the September 2016 collection - Life is tweet. These flairs are perfect additions to little girl pages.
I added a bit more fun to the layout with a star from Charms Creations
Happy Scrapping.

Stuck?!Sketches January 1st challenge

Happy New Year for 2017.
It's time for a new challenge at Stuck?!Sketches, and this one should keep you happy, just as they all do. Here is the sketch:
No automatic alt text available.
For my layout, I used an autumn photo, which I know sounds odd, given this time of year. However, Charms Creations is a sponsor for this challenge this month, and I was sent a product to use - the apricot terrific tab and the DIY star. So given the apricot colour, I decided to use this photo, and did an autumn theme layout.
I sprayed the patterned paper, added some rubons and then some washi tape, stamped images and some die cut leaves.
To my DIY star, I added some texture paste through some plasterers tape, but this doesn't show up very well. I then misted it, and stamped on it. I love the end result.
I also added a flair from Funky Flairs Studio
Anyway, I hope you have time to join us for the challenge.

Stuck?! Sketches August 15th challenge

I love a good sketch, and this one from the mid month release at Stuck?! Sketches is a beauty.
I really enjoyed playing with this sketch, it could have been interpreted in so many ways, and I am sure I will play with it again at some stage.
I have scrapped a photo of my friends grand-daughter, Addison. She was playing peek a boo with me on this particular day, when I was trying to take photos of her, so cute.
I created a bit of texture in the background with some coloured texture paste and a Prima stencil. I then layered the photo on top of patterned papers, project life journaling cards and some mesh. I added a Charms Creations heavenly heart, a flair from Studio fourteen 40, and some really old, but cute felt flowers. I repeated some of the elements in the top right hand corner cluster.
Thanks for looking at my layout and for any comments you may leave.

Show Us Your Stuff August Challenge

Can you believe it is August already? It will be Christmas before we know it. At least it is the last month of winter - yay to that.
This month at Show Us Your Stuff, we have a very interesting challenge.. Here it is:
So, it's time to get out those ugly papers in your stash and do something special with them. don't for get your handmade item.
For my layout, I chose a photo of a friends grand-daughter, she lights up any ugly paper, lol. I found some papers from an American Crafts pack, which I really didn't like very much, especially the green one. So with paper on my cardstock, I covered them all with gesso - great way to tone down and cover over things you don't like. I then used some modelling paste and a stencil which I applied over the gesso.
The handmade item I have used on my layout, is a Charms Creations heavenly hessian heart
Don't be afraid of this challenge, embrace it.

D-lish Scraps July DT share - Baby Selfie

Hi, I am back again to share my July layouts with you. This layout, is inspired by Mandy Melville, who designed this challenge for the cybercrop at The Scrap Suite:
This is a lovely sketch, so I just had to have a go at it.
Given that my layout is about taking photos, I used this camera paper, which I coloured some of the cameras with gelatos, for a bit of added intersest.
I used a 5 x 7 paper bag as matting for my photo, and added a paper doily. I decided to use some basic journal spots as part of my clusters on this layout, rather than using them to journal on. In this cluster I have added a printed wood veneer butterflystarflower, and monochrome journal tag.
My final cluster features my title created with Kaisercraft alphas. I love these alphas, they are so versatile.

D-lish Scraps June share - Enjoy the little things

This is my final share for June at D-lish Scraps.
This layout is my interpretation of a challenge set by Michelle Stokes, for the May cybercrop at the Scrap Suite.
Now I don't have a Cameo Silhouette sadly, I would love one though. So I have had to rely on by Big Shot to do my die cutting.
I was lucky enough to win some gorgeous dies from Couture Creations recently, this is the first time I have used them - the title and the leaf die at the right of my photo. I have otherwise used a Sizzix die to cut the leaf shapes.
Here are some close ups of my layout:

Dlish Scraps June share - Sweet

This is the first of my D-lish Scraps shares for June, and it is featuring this months inspiration board:
For my layout, I used the sketch as a guide, and loved the butterflies as well.
I had this very cute photo of my friends grand-daughter, the colours were perfect to match her cardigan.
On my layout, I used a gold foil doily behind my photo. I added a felt polka dot bow and a wood veneer heart
I twirled some coloured wire, which I tucked under the star flower

Scrap The Girls May challenge

This month at Scrap The Girls, there is an awesome sketch to play along with:
I love sketches for those times when you are either in scrappers block, or when you don't have a lot of time to think. I have been pressed for time of late to scrap, so this was perfect to give me some creative time. I have used some photos of a friends grand-daughter, Addison.
I used a variety of patterned papers, as I was trying to draw inspiration from the Minnie Mouse bib that Addison was wearing. This is also why I have added a cut-out of Minnie, from an old calendar. (Some things we save do come in handy, lol). I have embellished using a Charms Creations heavenly heart and Charms Creations bright emoji. My felt flowers are old creations from Chellejamo. I have also added a flair and tab from Studio 1440. You have to love local Australian handmade creations.
I had a lot of fun creating this layout.
Thanks for looking and for any comments you may leave.
