Scrap the Boys October Challenge

This month at Scrap the boys the challenge is to scrap technology savvy, iphones, ipads, xbox etc. Initially I balked at this challenge, as I thought I had nothing to scrap, and really couldn't get my head around it. Anyway, I went looking, and low and behold, I found some nearly ancient photos of my son Kieran, who will be 21 in 2 weeks time. These photos are from his 13th birthday, when he was absolutley delighted to recieve a particular x box game.

For my layout, I used the colours of black and lime green, typically synonomous with x box, and then stuck a heap of x's over the background - one of those letters we don't always tend to use, but get lots of in our alphas, lol.

In the end I was glad I tackled this layout.

D-lish Scraps October Inspiration board challenge

Wow, it's October already, and this month the D-lish Scraps inspiration board challenge is a beauty. So bright and colourful, and the just add paper kit that compliments the board is oh so pretty, one I managed to get, yay.

It's a good thing I had my 50th birthday party this year, which was a 60's dress up theme, as I had some fabulous photos from the night. So for this bright and cheery inspiration board, yes I chose a photo from my party. This one is of my sister and my daughter, being ab fab, how many times did I get the word fabulous on my page? I've lost count, lol. I had so much fun with this layout, being able to use bling, the JAP kit from D-lish Scraps, glitter, colour, flowers, you name it this layout just about has it, lol.

Scrap the boys September challenge

Again this month I have given the Scrap the boys challenge a go, and for September the challenge was DOMESITICATED. I had the perfect photo for this one, showing my two boys - husband and son, having a go at something domesticated. I decided to use a comical slant to my journaling for this one, don't want to get too serious. My boys do actually do the dishes and other domesticated stuff, perhaps not as often as I would like, but they do it.

I really enjoyed this challenge, and had a bit of fun creating my background. The very old Love Elsie patterned paper worked fantastically for my layout, and with a bit of creativity, I've turned old into new again. I love how the current trend of "project life" style cards can fit in with just about anything, and they added that bit of up to date to the old paper. I also used the Irresistables texture spray on my layout, particularly noticable on the arrow, it is really cool spray that has a resist nature to it, but also adds a bit of texture with a glossy feel to it.

This photo was taken 6 years ago, after a Christmas dinner with friends, how lucky was I to have it. Kieran has really matured a bit since this was taken, lol.

For the September Show us your stuff challenge, the design team have organised inspiration from the following inspiration board:

Spring Mood Board

I love these types of challenges, as there are sooooooo many options on how to create the challenge. This mood board certainly offered just that, and colour selection was certainly going to be fun for this one.

I had these photos taken from our trip to France last year, of tulips that were taken in one of the gardens near our Paris hotel, and were perfect for this challenge, given that we were in Paris in spring.

I really had a lot of fun with this layout, and it came together quite well for me - didn't have to labour over it for ages like I usually do.

My handmade items are some crochet flowers and doily.

Spring in Paris

White with 1 September Challenge

This month the White with 1 September challenge is to use Marshmallow with white, pink marshmallow. Nice challenge, but getting the right shade of pink to obtain marshmallow is slightly tricky. I think I overdid it a little with my background colour, mind you I have made marshmallow that has been that colour, lol. The colour went well with my photo though.

The layout is of friends daughters, photo taken nearly 15 years ago now. The original photo was not great, so I've played a little with it as well, to make it a bit arty.

I teamed my layout with the D-lish Scraps new "after 5's" flowers, very very pretty flowers, which funnily enough sell out quickly.

Lets get shabby challenge #58

The current challenge #58 for Lets get shabby is to use wood - your own interpretation of that. Nice challenge, and for this layout I decided to use a wood grain designed paper.
This is a layout of my daughter and one of her best friends.
I used some really pretty after 5's fabric flowers from D-lish Scraps.
Looking at the end product here, I'm not sure I should have used the glimmer glam (brownish areas) on the layout  - it seemed like a good idea at the time, but I think the layout could have done without it. Oh well, we live and learn from our mistakes don't we.

D-lish Scraps September cybercrop queen of the crop challenge by ME!

At the D-lish Scraps August cybercrop, for all who completed all 4 layouts, there was the opportunity to be crowned queen of the crop. I was the lucky queen to be crowned, which meant winning a lovely prize of D-lish Scraps goodies, and getting to set a challenge at the September cybercrop. Wow, what an opportunity, and I had to think long and hard about this, many ideas going through my head.
Anyway eventually, I came up with the idea for my challenge to be based around photography - I mean isn't that what we are doing anyway, scrapbooking our photos? So guidelines for the challenge were to scrap a series of photos, a photo shoot, someone being photographed taking a photo or photo booth pics - really the ideas are endless. A camera embellishment needed to be included on the layout.
For this challenge, I decided to use a series of photos of a friends daughter, Charlie, posing with her hat, on a daddy and daughter date. She really looks like she is posing for a photo shoot in these photos.
The D-lish Scraps products used here are paper doily, sequins, wood veneers, resin shapes, sweet petites, violas and felt flowers.

This is an example of my camera embellishment, for which I used a die cut vellum camera which I covered with embossing powder and heat set, then added a D-lish Scraps flair button to the centre.
