Scrap the Boys December challenge DT share

Hi everyone it is December, it is nearly the end of the year, and Christmas. Wow, how did that happen.
So for December at Scrap the Boys  we are scrapping Christmas and our boys, how cute is that?
Here is the challenge:

So it really is open for interpretation, it is such a fun challenge. Here is my layout:
They are nice
I had a lot of fun with this layout, I cut some baubles from a page that was covered with baubles and these worked really well for my layout. I added a die cut tree and then a Charms Creations super star on top of the tree. Love it. A few splatters of paint around the page finished it off.

I hope we get to see your creations over on the blog.

Scrap the Boys November

Wow, it's November already, so that means there is a new challenge up for Scrap the Boys, here is the challenge:
Guess what, you get to include yourself in this layout, or another person who loves a boy. How lovely a challenge is this?
I chose this photo of myself and my husband, I love the relaxed feel of it, in amongst the autumn leaves. So I tried to recreate the feel of the colours and leaves in my layout.
Love You
I had this gorgeous cut file from Cut to You by Gwen Wruck, a previous sponsore. I coloured this cut file with distress oxides. I added a whole load of autumn coloured flowers and a Charms Creations heavenly heart
I hope we get to see your creation for this challenge.

Scrap the Boys October

We are well and truly on our way to the end of the year, how it has flown. For the October challenge at Scrap the Boys, we have this moodboard to play with:

I normally struggle with adding pink to a male themed layout, flowers as well, they are not regular items on my boy layouts. So this month probably was a struggle for me. I used the colours as closely as I could for this layout, and kept it simple.
Groom
Lol, wedding photos make it easy to add flowers, and as you can see I have both pink and flowers on this layout. Also featured is a Charms Creations heavenly heart, perfect for a wedding layout.
I hope we get to see how you are inspired by this moodboard.

Scrap the Boys September DT share

Well, there you go, it is September already. Could someone kindly tell me where August went, lol.
So the new challenge is ready at Scrap the Boys. I am sure you will love this:
Who could not resist doing this challenge?
I have used a photo of a great nephew, Hendrix. This was him as a little baby, he is now 2.
I love how he is looking at the camera, just like the image in the challenge.
I created a mixed media background, which was a lot of fun, and it really went well with what he was wearing.
I included a Charms Creations denim super star, which was also a perfect match to what he was wearing in the photo.

Scrap the Boys August DT share

Wow it's time for the new August challenge at Scrap the Boys. I think you will like this one:
Our boys can be a bit wild at times that is for sure, so this one should be a fun one. This month we are teaming with Created by Gwen, who has supplied the team with die cuts for our layouts. Take a look around her gorgeous shop, there is lots to be inspired by.
I have used this fun photo of my nephews playing wild with their Dad, they had a fun time. The die cuts worked so well, I really love how wild this layout has turned out.

Scrap the Boys July DT share

Well  it's July, and the weather is terrible here, so might as well be scrapping. The new challenge at Scrap the Boys, is sure to please, and you will be seeing stars:
So let your mind go wild. I decided to scrap about a music star - Keith Urban, he is a fabulous musician, who I saw in concert back in 2016. He is a very generous man, but he is also a super star guitarist and singer. It was a great concert.
I started with a star stencil, texture paste and colour bursts. I had some great star themed chipboard in my stash, so that and other little star themed items worked. I also added the Charms Creations super star, which was a perfect match.

Scrap the Boys June challenge - DT share

June, means winter, means cold, lets rug up and scrap.
So without further ado, here is the new challenge for June at Scrap the Boys.
Stitching on a layout looks fabulous I agree, but I don't do it often enough, probably because my machine is a high quality machine given to me by my beloved grandmother, and I don't feel I should use it for sewing through glue and paper. So I actually created this layout at a friends house, and her machine is for scrapping purposes.
The background was created with lots of stencils and texture paste, ink and then stamping over that again, add some spray ink and you have one grungy background. So the rest of the layout needed to be grungy. I did lots of layering behind the photo with paper, hessian and transparencies. I thought the stars were a cute addition, especially the Charms Creations super star
This little boy, a nephew was very sick as a newborn, I wanted to scrap this photo, to show how strong he is, to overcome everything and be developing well.

Scrap the Boys May challenge

April is gone, and now May is here. So that means it's time for another challenge at Scrap the Boys.
Here is the challenge:
When I first saw this moodboard I had different photo in mind, but then couldn't find the photo. It went along the theme of the model look, never mind will have to save it for another layout another time. I found this cute photo of a nephew and his little boy. I thought it would work really well with the colours.
The background paper was a great find, it had most of the work done, I just added some stamping and stenciling with stamp and stencil set from Aall and Create. ( I think I am fast developing an obsession with their products).  I also stamped and fussy cut the leaves, to tie the leaves in the photo and in the moodboard together.
Embellishing was done with some chipboard arrows, which I embossed. I also embossed the title. I finished off with Charms Creations XO, one of them a DIY.
I really love how this layout turned out, despite not being the photo I had in my head to use for this moodboard.
Like father like son

Scrap the Boys April challenge DT layout

So it's April, can we please rewind the last 3 months? Oh well, no holding back of time, so we must look forward to the new things, like the new challenge at Scrap the Boys.
What fun this challenge is, so many geometric shapes to choose from. I chose to use circles. I had this lovely patterned paper from Cocoa Vanilla Studio that was my inspiration, the found as many circular elements that I could - cogs (perfect for the bike photo), bike chipboard, other circle wood veneers, die cuts, and stamping. Even the frame has circles on it (well spots actually, but spots are round). To top it off, the lovely O from Charms Creations

Scrap the Boys March challenge

Hi I am back with another challenge for Scrap the Boys, with this awesome sketch.
I don't usually like a big themed piece on my layouts, but this time the star worked and was perfect for my layout.
I had so much fun creating this layout of Hendrix, on his first birthday, really the photo helped me out with this layout.
I added some ink to the background, and then cut out the star from this awesome paper that suited the photo so well. I added some die cuts, and stars and arrows as embellishments, and finished it off with a Charms Creations super star
Have fun with this sketch is all I can say.
Ooh, what's this

Scrap the Boys and Stick it Down collaborative challenge February

The design team at Scrap the Boys have been invited this month to collaborate for a challenge at Stick it Down, with this sketch:
No automatic alt text available.
There is a cut file available for this challenge, but I don't have a silhouette, so had to go my own way with the challenge. I really struggled with it, I don't know why, but perhaps I was trying to keep to the sketch too much, and not do my own interpretation of it. So once I switched my thinking, it started to fall into place.
I used this photo of my niece and her little family, I really liked it to represent love.
I created the background with lots of spraying in different blues and browns, and added some stamping. Setting the heart off to the side was the best thing I did, and then adding my small cluster to the left hand side of the layout helped to tie it in to the sketch. Some die cut leaves in my clusters seemed right, as well as the Charms Creations heavenly heart
In the end, I grew to love this layout, despite the troubles I had at the start.
Love

Scrap the Boys 2018 February challenge

So I finally made it to the design team at Scrap the Boys. I tried a couple of times to get onto the team, and made it last year. So this is my first blog post with the team.
So the February challenge, is this:
Image may contain: text
Wow the possibilities are endless, just with 3 words. Not only the words, but the colours are awesome. I pulled out a variety of different photos that could have worked for this challenge. I finally decided on this one of my son when he was a baby, exploring the beach for the first time, so much joy on the little face.
I really wanted to keep the beach theme going, so I found lots of beach themed bits and pieces - wood veneer, twine, muslin, beach images. The background is a gelli plate lift, which looks like water, so it was perfect to use. I also added a Charms Creations hessian arrow, in the perfect colour. I decided the words in the graphic, were perfect as a title.
I loved creating this layout.

Scrap the boys November challenge

I haven't done a challenge at Scrap the Boys for a few months now, not from want of doing, it's been a time thing. This month however, I had some time to do the challenge, and I loved this challenge. I love colour challenges, they are so versatile.
How awesome are these colours for boys?
I decided to just stick to traditional scrapping for this challenge. I mean to say, we have so many papers and embellishments to use, we should use them, so that's what I did. The photo is of great nephew Hendrix on his first birthday. I really love how all of these colours worked together.

Scrap The Boys October challenge

End of October already, I managed to sneak in the challenge at Scrap the Boys, a sketch, awesome - I love sketches.
My mother recently gave me these photos of my son when he was 2 (he is now 23). Ihad forgotten about these pics, lol. He was having breakfast with his favourite companion of the time, Brown Ted.
It seems that with the age of my photos, my layout took a turn to my vintage stash - I really pulled out some of the old stuff for this. I have got old patterned paper and felt fusion - remember that? It seemed to work for this layout and my photos.
I added a Charms Creations arrow, and a cork embellishment and arrows from Burdy's embellies.
Thanks for looking at my layout and for any comments you may leave.

Scrap the Boys July challenge

The challenge this month at Scrap The Boys is to be inspired by this image:
I had a couple of photos perfect for this layout, but chose this one of my nephews having some fun at the beach.
I created the background to my layout with texture paste, a resist spray and then used the Ken Oliver Colour Bursts, (my fave mixed media product at the moment).
I tore some papers and layered them to look like water from the ocean. I aded some prills, hand dyed muslin and shells.
I used a Charms Creations cute cloud, that I cut in half and set to the top of the layout, and also added a Charms Creations super star
I had a lot of fun with this layout.
Thanks for looking at my layout and for any comments you may leave.

Scrap the Boys June challenge

So it's winter, already!. It is wet and drizzly here in Melbourne this weekend, perfect weekend for scrapping. So I have managed to get this challenge done for Scrap the Boys.
So for this challenge, I was basically inspired by the colours, even though I struggle to scrap with such restrictive tones of black and white. However, for this challenge, I chose to get grungy, and I had fun with it.
My husband, for as long as I have known him (30 years) has always wanted a Ford Mustang. Every time he sees one, he is literally drooling, lol. One day, he might just get one - maybe it will be our retirement car - hahaha. So this photo is of him admiring a Mustang, at a display of vintage cars in Melbourne on Australia Day.
I stamped the background with a variety of stamps, then used the patterned papers, corrugated cardboard and washi tape to create the rest of the background. I used Charms creations chevrons and a tab to embellish with. I am really pleased with this layout, despite my hesitations with black and white. My husband even really loved this layout, lol.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and for any comments you may leave.

Scrap the Boys May challenge

This month at Scrap the Boys, there is an awesome sketch to be inspired by. As soon as I saw it, I knew I wanted to do this.
I have had these photos of nephew Jareth for a couple of years, and this challenge was just perfect for it, with the use of 3 photos. Jareth is a very lucky little boy, to be alive, he nearly died after his birth, but he is a real fighter and pulled through. To see him concentrating on hitting the ball this day is a joy, thinking about what could have been.
I loved the design in the sketch of the layering of the 2 background papers, but when I was going through my paper stash, I found this Fancy Pants paper that I thought would create the same sort of idea as the sketch.
I of course added my Charms Creations Super Stars, absolutely perfect for this layout.
I then found a few different items that would work, and found these really old Making Memories (remember them?) word sticker tags, which were perfect colour and I liked the words that were printed. I added a flair from Funky Flairs studio.
I am happy with the way this turned out.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and for any comments you may leave.
