Stuck?! Sketches! September 15 challenge

My Creative Scrapbook

So this is my last DT share with Stuck?! Sketches!, and the September 15 sketch is just lovely to finish up on.

I had a lot of fun with this photo of my nephew, but also kept it simple. This is such a versatile sketch, you could really dress it up a lot if you wanted to, but then there is nothing wrong with simplicity either.

Stuck?! Sketches! May 1 challenge

I am not sure where this year is going, May already. Time for the new months challenge at Stuck?!Sketches! Here is the sketch:

I really found this one a challenge, sketches for me a usually a great starting point, but I sat over this one for a long time to get it to work for me. I used some photos of my nephew with a bunch of balloons. I wanted the layout to be fun, so I used the colourful background. I used a My favourite things die to cut the circles. and added some circle chipboard. I continued with the circle elements with a Charms Creations O embellishment, and some Funky Flairs Studio flairs.

Stuck?! Sketches November 15 sketch challenge

The mid month sketch at Stuck?! Sketches is just fabulous:

I loved playing with this one. I used these photos of myself and my nephew and Godson, Lachlan, who I don't get to see much, as he lives in another state. I recently went to visit my family, so got these photos. We were on a picnic, and it was a nice sunny day, so I used some bright coloured papers and embellishments for my layout, to capture that. 

D-lish Scraps is one of the sponsors for this challenge. I used to be on the design team, so I am lucky enough to have a stash of the fabulous products available. 

On my layout, I used coloured wire, printed wood veneer, flair buttons, enamel dots, bitty bags, monochrome journal it's and wax blossom flower.. 

I have also used Charms Creations arrow and star embellishments, which I have circled with the wire.

Scrap the Boys July challenge

The challenge this month at Scrap The Boys is to be inspired by this image:

I had a couple of photos perfect for this layout, but chose this one of my nephews having some fun at the beach. 

I created the background to my layout with texture paste, a resist spray and then used the Ken Oliver Colour Bursts, (my fave mixed media product at the moment). 

I tore some papers and layered them to look like water from the ocean. I aded some prills, hand dyed muslin and shells. 

I used a Charms Creations cute cloud, that I cut in half and set to the top of the layout, and also added a Charms Creations super star. 

I had a lot of fun with this layout.

Scrapbooking Top 50 March challenge

This month I decided to join in the challenge at Scrapbooking Top 50, is to be inspired by the word sweet:

I decided to use a photo of my nephews, when my youngest nephew Ethan was just a new baby, and his bigger brother Lachlan was enjoying a tender moment with him. I really thought this was a sweet photo to scrap. 

For my sweet word, I found an old Bella chipboard word which I painted in yellow, to pick up the bits of yellow in the patterned paper. 

I added a few embellishments from Charms Creations - an x and o and a cute cloud.

I actually had some WOW wood veneer hearts in my stash, which worked so well on this layout. 

Some other fun product I have used on this layout, are flairs and tags from Studio Fourteen40.

Stuck?! Sketches January challenge

So I've started the year with scrappers block! Not great, as I really feel like I'm struggling at the moment with my scrapping.
I found some inspiration in the Stuck?! Sketches challenge for January, the first sketch they have on their blog, for this layout.
The photos are of my nephews playing with water balloons, on a hot summer day. Firstly they were bored, but also they were hot, so what better way to entertain them and cool them down at the same time. Sadly the water balloons didn't last for long, but they had fun.
So on my layout, I used a radiant rain dauber to make the "water splats" in the background.

 I went through some of my older papers, as these ones worked really well  for the colours that I wanted to use. I cut the word "today" from a Project Life journaling card. 

I added a Charms Creations super star and terrific tab to the layout to top it all off.

 I'm quite pleased with this layout, even though I'm still missing my mojo, sure hope it returns.

D-lish Scraps January moodboard challenge - DT share

Welcome to 2016, and my round of shares for the month at D-lish Scraps. My first share this month is for the moodboard challenge:

Don't you just love this for a boys layout? 

I chose to scrap a photo of my nephew Lachlan, when he was a little fellow, I just love the face he is pulling in this photo. 

I really liked the sketch Amanda has provided in the moodboard this month, so I did my own interpretation of it. Instead of paper for the background, I have used a stencil, and a pen, which I drew the chevrons on and then scribbled in them. 

I matted my photo onto a striped paper bag, and framed it with a wood veneer frame. 

In my clusters I have used some of the monochrome journal its tags, and then added flair buttons and printed wooden buttons. 

To top it all off, I added a felt polka dot bow.

Scrap the Boys November challenge

This month the challenge at Scrap the Boys, is something so different, to scrap our boys eating:

I love this challenge, after all boys of all ages eat - don't they? I can't keep my 22 year old son satisifed, he eats me out of house and home. Anyway, I had this photo of my cute nephew Lachlan from back in 2007, he was having a lovely time at a family picnic, and I snapped this photo of him hoeing into a cheese roll/hamburger. 

I thought the kraft cardstock would work well for this photo, and I added a bit of texture paste under my patterned paper. I embellished with a variety of items, but included some of my favourite items, Charms Creations embellishments, including a super star and a terrific tab. 

I really enjoyed this challenge.

Deer and Fawn September challenge

This month at Deer and Fawn designs, the challenge is to use orange in a layout. Orange is my new favourite colour, I love it, it's so bright and cheery.
I had this photo of my nephew Lachlan, taken nearly 4 years ago at Christmas, and used it for this challenge. He was happily eating his Christmas lunch, I was an interrupting aunty and asked him for his photo, he was obliging  - love this little guy.
For my layout, I was inspired by a sketch designed by Ana Castro, I love her designs, they are awesome. I chose Websters Pages patterned paper, as well as Basic Grey for the orange. I spattered some orange paint onto the background. I backed the photo with Project Life journaling cards, added washi tape. I embellished with Charms Creations starsand mini tab, and Scrap Fx chipboard which I embossed with Lindy's stamp gang embossing powders to make them look a little rusty. I also added the button from Birdies embellies and resin stars from Cocoa Vanilla.
I'm just a little pleased with this layout.

Show Us Your Stuff September challenge

For the September challenge at Show Us Your Stuff, the challenge is this:

This is a great awesome, so I hope you decide to give it a go. 

For my design team layout, I chose a photo of my nephew Lachlan, after a day out at the snow, when he was visiting Melbourne with his family 4 years ago. He had a great fun day, but by the end of it was exhausted. 

For my layout, I chose a white cardstock background, and I chose the colour green, which I have drawn from his jumper. I used a stencil with texture paste, which I then added embossing powder over and heat embossed. I added some black rub ons around the edge of the cardstock. I applied watered down gelatos using plastic wrapping from packaging to the cardstock. My handmade embellishments are chevrons from Charms Creations, including a DIY chevron, which I stamped in and coloured with the gelato, and a felt one which I stitched on as well. 

I would love to see what you come up with for this challenge.

D-lish Scraps August cybercrop - challenge 4 by Cindy

This is the second of the D-lish Scraps cybercrop challenges that I have managed to get done, still at home recovering.
This one was designed by the uber talented Cindy Porter, who is a master with mediums and arty styles of scrapping. This challenge was to use green and blue together.
I had these photos of my nephew Lachlan sitting in my stash, screaming out to be scrapped.
I used Luminarte Radiant Rain daubers (really old stuff from years ago - lol) and created the "splats" in the background. The products I have used from D-lish Scraps include paper bags, washi taped, Pink Fresh wooden beads, journaling spots, wood veneers and button.

Charms Creations DIY embellishment challenge - August

This month at Charms Creations, the challenge is to do something with your DIY embellishments. These embellishments are in the store currently, in a variety of shapes. I have been playing around with these a bit, so have finally done my layout for the challenge, to show you another way to use them.

I decided I wanted to use the triangle DIY's , and also added a heart to my layout. To them, I applied some rub-ons. The effect gives a very personalised embellishment, and you can see the triangles are all a little different. 

The trick though is to get rub-ons that are going to come off the backing and the top layer easily. There are some older rub-ons in my stash that are just no good, and I did have a problem with the title  - it didn't want to seperate easily. The ones on the DIY's were fine - they were Bella rub-ons. So if you do want to give this a go, choose your rub-ons carefully, do a trial run on some paper before you commit to your DIY's.

D-lish Scraps July challenge

This month at D-lish Scraps, the inspiration board is this one:

When I finally got to sit and do this one, I really loved it. The colours are gorgeous, and the designs are just lovely. I really thought it would suit a boy layout, so I chose this photo of my brother and my nephew, at a day at the speedway. 

I drew inspiration from the chevron design and the word adventure. I also loved the sketch. I started by stenciling on the stars to the background, and added some subtle splatters of paint. 

I chose quite a few embellishments from my stash that have been available from D-lish Scraps - including the wood veneer words, the title word adventure, the enamel dotsand the date tag. I also added some embellishments from Charms Creations that I thought suited because of the colours in the board. 

This is a really clean layout for me, I had to refrain from using lots of mixed media. I am happy with its overall result though.
