Scrap the Girls July DT share

July, cold weather, nothing to do outside, so may as well be scrapping. So let's take a look at the July challenge at Scrap the Girls.
When I first looked at this one, I was stumped, I had no idea how to approach it. Taking another look at it, I was able to draw inspiration from the pleating in the images and also the tutu on the ballerina.
I decided this photo from my daughters 21st birthday, a Burlesque theme would suit this layout.
I used a stencil and a spray to create the background. I added lots of feathers and bling to the layout, which suited the theme of the party.
I featured a Charms Creations DIY heart on the layout, which I stamped in and then splattered with ink.
In the end I was happy with the result, but it did have me thinking for some time.

Stuck?! Sketches! May 1 challenge

I am not sure where this year is going, May already. Time for the new months challenge at Stuck?!Sketches! Here is the sketch:
Image may contain: text
I really found this one a challenge, sketches for me a usually a great starting point, but I sat over this one for a long time to get it to work for me. I used some photos of my nephew with a bunch of balloons. I wanted the layout to be fun, so I used the colourful background. I used a My favourite things die to cut the circles. and added some circle chipboard. I continued with the circle elements with a Charms Creations O embellishment, and some Funky Flairs Studio flairs.
Party
I hope you join us for the challenge.

Funky Flairs Studio creative team share #1 March

Today I am sharing the first of my layouts for Funky Flairs Studio.
This layout is using a photo from my daughters 21st birthday, which was a Burlesque theme.
Party Girls
The flairs I used on this layout are from the Bohemian Feathers collection, and they were absolutely perfect for this layout, given there were lots of feathers to be seen at the party, lol. Team that with some real feathers that I sprayed and die cut feather, to tie them all in together. White With 1 January challenge

Happy New Year 2017.
I am delighted to be a part of the team at White With 1. So today I am sharing the new challenge for January. This month there is a moodboard to play with as well as the colour, which is PRINCESS PINK:
Image may contain: 1 person
How pretty is this? So for all those girly layouts, let your hair down, and go with the pink.
I chose photos from my daughters 21st, already over 5 years ago. This colour was perfect for her photos, as was the moodboard.
I didn't have a lot of pink of this colour in my stash, but did find enough to manage my layout.  Lol, I have used some quite old Love Elsie products, but they worked. I added a spotty cellophane lolly bag under the scrapping papers. I used white leaves instead of pink ones to soften the page a little. I have added some flairs from Funky Flair Studio
Have fun with the challenge.

Scrap The Girls December Challenge

Well it's nearly the end of the year, how did that happen?
We get so busy with Christmas preparations, we forget to take time out for our own things. I found time to sit and do this challenge though from Scrap The Girls. I looked at this challenge, and new I had a photo that would work. Here is the challenge:
My daughter turned 21 over 5 years ago. I have struggled to scrap her photos, given that the photos are mostly of scantily clad young ladies (Burlesque theme party) - geez I sound like a prude. I have never found the right inspiration but this challenge was perfect. I felt the need to go OTT with it, I think it worked, LOL.
I stencilled the background with texture paste and added Ken Oliver colour burst powders to the wet paste. Once dry I then came back with some gold ferro paste.
I have taken inspiration from the gold, and the flowers. I have overloaded the layout with flowers. I also added a Charms Creation super star and terrific tab
Thanks for looking at my layout and for any comments you may leave.

D-lish Scraps May share 2 - 21st cake

Hi everyone, back again for my second share for May. This one is inspired by a challenge set for the April cybercrop, by Emma Zappone. Here is the challenge:
Well I must say this one is an interesting challenge, I don't normally do black and white well, so lucky there was another colour, and the metallic. So I have pushed myself a little with this one, and to say I struggled a little is probably an understatement.
I wanted to use the pink 21, which was from my daughters 21st birthday party, which was an over the top Burlesque theme. I had this photo of her cake, as many of her photos are a bit too much to share publicly, so the cake it is - lol.
I used one of the new Dusty Attic stencils, the feathers one, which I applied texture paste through onto the 21. I scattered some sequins around the page. This cluster has a sequin bowresin flowers, bitty bag, basic journal spot, and star flower.
21st cake
So it's good to try something different, right? Lol.

September Scrap the Boys challenge

For the September challenge at Scrap the Boys, there is a sketch to use:
It's a great blokey sketch, but then could also be translated for a little dude as well, quite a few possibilities.
I chose to do a blokes layout. I had this photo of my husband and his best mate taken at our daughters 21st birthday party, which was a Burlesque theme. An awful lot of the guys dressed as gangsters, which is what these 2 did.
So for my layout, I wanted to try to achieve that feeling of money/flashiness etc.
I had this patterned paper from a My Mind's Eye collection, with all the flashy silver on it. I used this as my inspiration with the sketch. I kept to a monochromatic theme, and added the bits of silver and bling to it- nothing wrong with bling on a blokes layout. I had this car paper clip, which I found at Office works, which I thought worked well. I also had one of the new embellishments that will be released soon at Charms Creations. I used the moustache with a DIY diamond, to which I stamped and added silver embossing powder. Diamonds are another touch that I felt went with the gangsters/money theme. I quite like the overall effect of this, no mixed media as such to speak of, but hey, that's ok.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and any comments you may leave.

D-lish Scraps October cybercrop - queens challenge

The 5th challenge at the D-lish Scraps cybercrop was the queens challenge by Renee Iverson, her prize for being nominated queen of the September cybercrop (my privelege for the August cybercrop).
Renee's challenge was to feature washi tape - this should have been really easy, but of course, I fussed over this one as well - not sure why I can't just be happy with where I lay things first up - lol.
Anyway, I featured washi tape in my die cut title and balloons and used washi tape in the background.
Another layout of my very cute nephew Lachlan - gotta love this little guy.
D-lish Scraps products used were the wordfetti, monochomatic journaling tags, and button flair.
Thanks for looking at my layout.
