Kraft plus August challenge

Wow, the challenge at Kraft plus for August is really interesting. Here it is:
Now I knew I wanted to scrap a photo about trees, I mean when do  you actually get to do that any other time, lol. I had another photo that I thought about using, but then decided on these ones of the Supertree Grove in Singapore. They are these "trees", made from steel posts, and there are loads of them. Some of them are covered in vines and have gardens at the base of them. There is also a "tree top walk" from tree to tree. It is a really cool place and one I recommend if you go to Singapore.
So now about my layout. I had an idea in my head to create a tree from toothpicks. Do you know how hard that is? It just didn't work out as I had it in my head, so after much fiddling, gave that up as a bad joke, lol. I had a chipboard tree that I used, and wrapped some vine around it, to replicate the vines on the steel trees. I also had a die cut, of a scribble image, which I kind of manipulated, to look a little like the trees, if you use your imagination it works, lol. This I placed behind the tree with vine.
I used some mixed media on my background - texture paste and leaf stencil, stamping and finished the layout with a Charms Creations arrow and terrific tabCharms Creations is one of this months sponsors for the challenge, and of course I am on the DT.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and for the comments you may leave.

CSI case file #236 DT share

Time for the second challenge for August at CSI colour challenges, case file # 236.
How much fun is this challenge? Great for travel layouts, or boy, or girl as well if you wanted.
I chose to scrap a photo of my husband, taken on our Hawaiian holiday from last year. We went on an open door helicopter flight over an active volcano. It was an exciting thing to do, but scary at the same time, well for me anyway, lol. So this is what I have documented about.
The evidence I used is stripes, wet medium (texture paste), twine. triangles, buttons and ombre (coloured texture paste).
I also added a Charms Creations arrow and terrific tab.

Stuck?! Sketches! August 15 challenge DT share

Hi everyone, back with the sketch challenge for August 15 at Stuck?! Sketches!.

No automatic alt text available.
I had so much fun with this layout, it is an awesome sketch, can't wait to see the interpretations of it.
So I die cut some paw prints and teamed these with the puppy patterned paper and other doggy embellishments. They were all so perfect for this pet themed page with our boy Dusty. To finish the page, I used Charms Creations heavenly heart and terrific tab

Stuck?! Sketches August 1 challenge DT share

Time for a new challenge at Stuck?! Sketches! for August. I really like this sketch, hope you do too:

I already had a background ready to go that was perfect for this layout, don't you just love that. Working with black and white photos is good for easy matching of items. So it was then just a matter of finding elements that went with the background. The layout was completed using a Charms Creations heavenly heart and super starCharms Creations is a sponsor for this months challenge.

Show Us Your Stuff August DT share

August at Show Us Your Stuff  brings a new challenge in the form of a sketch, which is just lovely:

I flipped the sketch to work better with my photos. I decided to just use 2 photos for this layout, and the 3rd photo was replicated by way of patterned paper under the photos. I think it worked. I used my fave product  - Ken Oliver colour bursts to create the paint effect. I added a wood veneer frame to one of the photos, to highlight that, and finished it off with Charms Creations super star and terrific tab. I also have a flair from D-lish Scraps

White With 1 August DT share

August! How fast this year has gone. A new month, brings a new challenge. The new challenge at White with 1 is a beauty. Here is the colour, silver light:

Initially I wasn't inspired by this colour, but when I searched through my photos, I had a great idea come to mind. I really wanted to allow the silver to shine, so I used a lot of mixed media, with stamping, stenciling, texture paste, silver embossing powder, silver spray and silver paint over the texture paste. I coloured the chipboard with silver paint as well. I die cut using silver cardstock, added some silver crystals and chipboard die cuts. The finishing touch was the Charms Creations silver glitter heavenly heart. The silver theme was perfect with the soft hues in the photo.
I will actually admit, that this is one of my favourite personal pieces. Just a bit disappointed the shine isn't as obvious on the screen.

Scrap the Girls August DT share

So it's August, and time for another challenge at Scrap the Girls. Here is the challenge:

I really wasn't sure how to tackle this layout, using grey. For me, it is such a masculine colour. That's why challenges are great, they get you to think outside the square. So I ran with it, and the grey was a fantastic base colour for a busy and somewhat colourful photo.
I was inspired by the paint chips and the word weird. I used 2 different stencils and shades of grey. I then added stamping, die cuts, washi tape, flowers, journaling tags and flairs in grey.
My photo was from last years Scrap and Chat retreat. The reference to weird was more a play on words, and the fact that so many diverse women can all come together, do their scrapping and have an enjoyable time. I think many people would find this weird, even though it's not, lol.
We are a weird mob
