Scrapbooking Top 50 December challenge

I decided to have a go at the challenge at Scrapbooking Top 50 this month, given it is a Christmas inspired challenge.
I loved the earthiness and rustic appeal of this moodboard. I had a photo of a Santa life art statue taken in the city, that I thought might be good for this challenge. However, I didn't have much in the way of wood inspired objects that would work. I altered a piece of music patterned paper with gesso, ink, stamping and crackle texture paste. I had a sheet of Kaisercraft stickers, a few years old now, and these worked well, so I took the inspiration for my layout from the flowers. I cut the stickers in half and layered them around the photo. I then found some wood veneer baubles and a star, and that gave me the wood element I was looking for. I think it turned out ok.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and for any comments you may leave.

Kraft plus December challenge

So it is Boxing Day today, and after a hectic week at work, then preparing for Christmas, I have given myself today to scrap. No cooking, no cleaning, no chores - it's fend for yourself day today.
So I have managed to sneak in a layout for the Challenge at Kraft Plus. Here is the challenge:
I loved the sound of this challenge, until it came to doing it, lol. So I guess I really was challenged. I decided to scrap about my cat, Tess. She will lay down in many places around our home, usually wherever I am. She follows me around whenever I am at home. Even today she was sitting with me when I was scrapping, but then she wanted to steal my chair - this can be a constant game. In the photos I have used she is laying in a suitcase, on the lounge, and sitting behind an old sewing machine. These are but a few of the spots she chooses.
I created a background with crackle texture paste and Ken Oliver colour bursts, then stamped over this. I added some cotton thread, and my photos, title, journaling and embellishing. I have embellished minimally, it doesn't need too much, in my opinion anyway. I used a Charms Creations heavenly heart with cat, and a flair and journal tag from Flutterby designs
Thanks for looking at my layout, and for any comments you may leave.

Scrap The Girls December Challenge

Well it's nearly the end of the year, how did that happen?
We get so busy with Christmas preparations, we forget to take time out for our own things. I found time to sit and do this challenge though from Scrap The Girls. I looked at this challenge, and new I had a photo that would work. Here is the challenge:
My daughter turned 21 over 5 years ago. I have struggled to scrap her photos, given that the photos are mostly of scantily clad young ladies (Burlesque theme party) - geez I sound like a prude. I have never found the right inspiration but this challenge was perfect. I felt the need to go OTT with it, I think it worked, LOL.
I stencilled the background with texture paste and added Ken Oliver colour burst powders to the wet paste. Once dry I then came back with some gold ferro paste.
I have taken inspiration from the gold, and the flowers. I have overloaded the layout with flowers. I also added a Charms Creation super star and terrific tab
Thanks for looking at my layout and for any comments you may leave.

Stuck?!Sketches December 15 sketch challenge

Not far till Christmas now, but there is still hopefully a bit of time to squeeze in some scrapping.
So at Stuck?! Sketches we have a really nice sketch to round out the year, take a look:
It really couldn't be any easier for the mad season, so I hope you feel inspired enough to have a go at this sketch.
I have created using a photo of my nephews and myself, taken at our family Christmas 2015. It is not often the whole family gets together for Christmas as we live in different states, but this year we had a bit of fun with camera, props and a frame.
I dug out a few handmade items from my stash, from swaps with friends from years gone by, they worked well for this layout. I also added a Charms Creations super star to my layout, along with some flairs from D-lish Scraps
I am pretty pleased with this layout, it's a bit of fun, a little bit of over the top, but I figure Christmas is allowed to be.
Hohoho

Show Us Your Stuff December challenge

Well it's nearly Christmas. Are you ready? Or would you rather be creating?
At Show Us Your Stuff, we have an awesome sketch to finish off the year with. Lol, I designed the sketch, Lisette came up with the word, and Chloe drew it all together with her graphic skills.
Here is the sketch:
It really couldn't be simpler. All you have to do is ensure you have the word TOGETHER as part of the layout, and don't forget to add your handmade item.
I scrapped a photo of myself and my nephews, I don't get to see them much, we live in different states. So last time I saw them, my brother took this photo.
I used some Colour Blast colour paste as a base for my photo. I added a Charms Creations heavenly heart and terrific tab to embellish with, along with some flairs from Studio fourteen40, which are my handmade items.
I love this photo, and I am pretty pleased with the outcome.
I hope you join us for the final challenge for 2016.

Charms Creations guest designer at CSI

So it's December, and nearly Christmas, and everyone is crazy busy and feeling stressed. Why do we do this to ourselves for one day?
So with this in mind, those of us who are creative, and love to play with paper and other pretty stuff, need to take time out for ourselves to create.
How better to do that, then with challenges, they give you what you need to be creative with.
One of those is the challenges at CSICharms Creations is a sponsor for the challenges this month. So I have had a play along with the case file 219. Here is the challenge:
When it came to doing this, I had so many items I could have used for evidence, but I used burlap, ribbon, tags, metal, brads, stars and trees. One of my stars is a Charms Creations bookpage super star. My testimony is about Christmas, and I have also used the word cheer. I also used the sketch provided.
I hope you give this challenge a go, a lot of fun.

Stuck?! Sketches December 1 challenge - DT share

Well, it's December, and you know what that means, anyway we won't go there.
We also have a new challenge for you to play along with at Stuck?! Sketches. Here is the sketch:
How awesome is this? You could use this for anything, and you will see that, if you check out what the design team have created. Great for general photos, great for Christmas (argh I said it).
I chose to use photos of my great nephew, who recently turned 1. He is an awesome little guy, love him to bits. These photos are from his birthday. I continued the star theme, and used some super stars from Charms Creations, plus star washi tape, and glittery chipboard embellishments to give the feeling of shine.
I hope you give this sketch challenge a go, it really is terrific.
Love this

Stuck?! Sketches November 15 sketch challenge

The mid month sketch at Stuck?! Sketches is just fabulous:
I loved playing with this one. I used these photos of myself and my nephew and Godson, Lachlan, who I don't get to see much, as he lives in another state. I recently went to visit my family, so got these photos. We were on a picnic, and it was a nice sunny day, so I used some bright coloured papers and embellishments for my layout, to capture that.
D-lish Scraps is one of the sponsors for this challenge. I used to be on the design team, so I am lucky enough to have a stash of the fabulous products available.
I have also used Charms Creations arrow and star embellishments, which I have circled with the wire.
I hope you have fun with this sketch.

A2Z Scraplets November challenge

I didn't know about the challenges at A2Z Scraplets, until it came up in my Facebook news feed recently. The November challenge particularly appealed to me. Create your layout incorporating the paper souvenirs you collected on your last trip or holiday. Make sure you use
at least one chipboard piece (please let us know if it is an A2Z Scraplets piece). Please include the technique used for decorating your chipboard.
Having recently been to Hawaii for a holiday, I thought this was a perfect opportunity to scrap a photo from this trip. I searched through my memorabilia, and found the tickets from our visit to Pearl Harbour. I placed an order with A2Z Scraplets, after checking out the chipboard, and found the perfect word title for my layout.
I used patterned paper, stickers, brads, and a pocket from a Teresa Collins collection, which I feel were perfect for the layout. I added some texture paste to the background and sprayed it with glimmermist. I painted my chipboard title with glimmermist.
I also added a Charms Creations map marker, which I sprayed with glimmermist. There is also a flair from Funky Flairs Studio, and a wood veneer piece from Rainbow Splendour
I plan to do a Project Life page to accompany this page.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and for any comments you may leave.

Scrap The Girls November challenge

This month at Scrap The Girls, there is a lovely sketch to use:
I love working with sketches, they provide a starting point, but also versatility to allow for your own interpretation, but quite simply you could just use them as they are. I pretty much kept to the sketch, but added my own little touches.
For my layout, I thought about using 4 different photos, like the sketch has, but I decided on 1 square 5 inch photo in the end. I was on a retreat in August, and met the talented Amanda Hartmann, who I am on a couple of design teams with. There was an 80's dress up night, and Amanda had these awesome retro earrings, that we put on to ham it up a bit. I love how Amanda posed for this photo, she looks like she is posing for a fashion magazine, lol.
Anyway, I tried to create a bit of a retro feel to my layout, using colours inspired by the earrings. I added some stamping and Colour blast colour paste. To embellish, I have added chipboard, crochet flowers, doily, feathers, ribbon, a Studio fourteen40 flair and a Charms Creations heavenly heart
Thanks for looking at my layout, and for any comments you may leave.

Stuck?! Sketches November 1 challenge

I love working with sketches, and the first challenge for Stuck?!Sketches for November is lovely.
My great nephew Rome recently had his 1st birthday, and even though I wasn't able to be there to celebrate, I was given some photos from the party. I really like these ones of my sister with her grandson. They just adore each other.
Anyway, I started with some Websters pages patterned paper, and misted it. I thought the stars matched the photos well. I added some punchinella under the photos, to add a bit of extra bling. To the chipboard I have added some gold foil.
I have embellished my layout with Charms Creations cute cloud and DIY heavenly heart, the heart I sprayed and added more gold foil. I have also added a Rainbow Splendour wood veneer cloud and a flair from Funky Flairs Studio.
I loved playing with this sketch and the way my layout turned out. I hope you join in the fun with this sketch.

Show Us Your Stuff November challenge

Eek, it is November already! Where has the year gone?
So with a new month, a new challenge, and you are going to love this one at Show Us Your Stuff this month:

That's right, No People Allowed! Think of all the possibilities with this. Travel photos, pets, sunsets/sunrises, beach photos, flowers, gardens etc etc - endless things to scrap.
So I chose to scrap our dog Bonnie, who passed away middle of this year. I am just starting to scrap her photos again. She was a friendly dog, but she was a bit of dopey dog, always in the way. Kind of miss being shadowed by her now.
Anyway, I created a mixed media background using stamping, texture paste, Ken Oliver colour bursts, old rub ons, plasterers tape, washi tape.
I also added a flair from Studio fourteen40.
I really hope you have a go at this challenge, you never know what you will create.
Bonnie

Kraft + guest DT for Charms Creations

This month at Kraft+, the challenge is to be inspired by something in your wardrobe:
This month Charms Creations is sponsoring the challenge, so I am sharing my layout as a guest designer on behalf of Charms Creations
This is an awesome challenge, it opens up to so many possibilities. I had many thoughts going through my head about this, I thought about my leather boots, a lace shirt, denim jeans etc. I saw my striped dress in my wardrobe, and remembered I had this awesome photo of my great nephew Rome,
who is wearing something similar. I knew I had some striped paper in my stash - too easy, lol.

I have used patterned papers from the Cocoa Vanilla Love Always collection, which were perfect for my layout.
I used a sketch I found on Pinterest to assist me with my design, this is a gorgeous sketch from Laura Whitaker
My happy place...: The Boys | Stuck?! Sketches June 1st Design Team Layout:
I love how my layout turned out, so I hope you find something inspiring in your wardrobe, and give this challenge a go.

Scrap The Boys October challenge

End of October already, I managed to sneak in the challenge at Scrap the Boys, a sketch, awesome - I love sketches.
My mother recently gave me these photos of my son when he was 2 (he is now 23). Ihad forgotten about these pics, lol. He was having breakfast with his favourite companion of the time, Brown Ted.
It seems that with the age of my photos, my layout took a turn to my vintage stash - I really pulled out some of the old stuff for this. I have got old patterned paper and felt fusion - remember that? It seemed to work for this layout and my photos.
I added a Charms Creations arrow, and a cork embellishment and arrows from Burdy's embellies.
Thanks for looking at my layout and for any comments you may leave.

White with 1 October challenge

I haven't done a White with 1 challenge for a while, just seem to run out of time lately. The colour for October challenge is cayenne:
Now this is not ordinarily a colour I would choose to use a lot of, but I seem to be trying things out of my comfort zone a bit of late, so I thought why not.
I have been wanting to scrap these photo booth photos for a while, and I think they worked perfectly for this challenge.
I sprayed the cardstock with some glimmer mist - it kind of looks like a blood bath, but anyway I ran with it.
I used some handmade paper and embellished with an x and o from Charms Creations, and a Studio Fourteen40 flair. I decided to leave the wood veneer raw, I think it helped to tone it all down a little.
Thanks for looking at my layout and for any comments you may leave.
Fun with my son
