Show Us Your Stuff February 2018 challenge

Our new challenge at Show Us Your Stuff for February, is this awesome sketch:

I loved this sketch, and it was the cluster in the graphic with the leaves and flamingo, that helped me to choose a photo for this challenge. I created the background with texture paste, and lots of different colour mediums, including Ken Oliver colour bursts, and inks and other sprays. It got quite wet, lot. I also did a bit of stamping over that. 

I used Scrap FX chipboard circle with palm tree, perfect addition to go with the sunset photo, taken in Hawaii on our holiday in 2016. 

The handmade items include lots of bits and pieces from Rainbow Splendour, who is the sponsor this month. I have also added some paper and printed phrase from Kit the Habit. 

I am very pleased with the way this one turned out.

A2Z Scraplets November challenge

I didn't know about the challenges at A2Z Scraplets, until it came up in my Facebook news feed recently. The November challenge particularly appealed to me. Create your layout incorporating the paper souvenirs you collected on your last trip or holiday. Make sure you use
at least one chipboard piece (please let us know if it is an A2Z Scraplets piece). Please include the technique used for decorating your chipboard.

Having recently been to Hawaii for a holiday, I thought this was a perfect opportunity to scrap a photo from this trip. I searched through my memorabilia, and found the tickets from our visit to Pearl Harbour. I placed an order with A2Z Scraplets, after checking out the chipboard, and found the perfect word title for my layout. 

I used patterned paper, stickers, brads, and a pocket from a Teresa Collins collection, which I feel were perfect for the layout. I added some texture paste to the background and sprayed it with glimmermist. I painted my chipboard title with glimmermist. 

I also added a Charms Creations map marker, which I sprayed with glimmermist. There is also a flair from Funky Flairs Studio, and a wood veneer piece from Rainbow Splendour. 

I plan to do a Project Life page to accompany this page.

Stuck?! Sketches November 1 challenge

I love working with sketches, and the first challenge for Stuck?!Sketches for November is lovely.

My great nephew Rome recently had his 1st birthday, and even though I wasn't able to be there to celebrate, I was given some photos from the party. I really like these ones of my sister with her grandson. They just adore each other. 

Anyway, I started with some Websters pages patterned paper, and misted it. I thought the stars matched the photos well. I added some punchinella under the photos, to add a bit of extra bling. To the chipboard I have added some gold foil. 

I have embellished my layout with Charms Creations cute cloud and DIY heavenly heart, the heart I sprayed and added more gold foil. I have also added a Rainbow Splendour wood veneer cloud and a flair from Funky Flairs Studio.

I loved playing with this sketch and the way my layout turned out. I hope you join in the fun with this sketch.

Scrap The Girls October challenge

The October challenge at Scrap the Girls, is to be inspired by this moodboard:

I don't usually even attempt challenges using purple, it is one of my despised colours to work with. There was something about this moodboard though, that wanted me to have a go, so I did. I even used a lot of purple - still not sure why, lol. 

So I created a background using gelatos, texture paste and stamping. I added a Charms Creations heavenly heart, a cute little Rainbow Splendour wood veneer feather, and a Studio fourteen40 flair.

Scrapbooking Top 50 2016 Block challenge

This post is my interpretation of the Week 2 challenge at Scrapbooking Tip 50 2016 Block challenge. Here is the inspiration:

I loved all the colour in this photo, the greens and pinks are very dominant, but I didn't want to use pink as a dominant colour in my layout, even though it is in the photo, doesn't seem right to me to use pink for boys, lol. So I went with the orange instead, with just a little pink. 

The wet mediums I used were texture paste, dylusions ink spray, glimmermist, and a new product I bought recently, Golden brand tar gel, which I mixed with acrylic paint, and then dribbled over the background. I learnt this technique recently in a class by Lisa Oxley using house paint. I think this product will be better, I will be able to colour it any colour I want. 

The texture in my layout comes in the form of the crochet lace, tulle, buttons, felt embellies from Charms Creations and Rainbow Splendour, flair from Funky Flairs Studio, and some enamel dots, wood veneer, wire arrow and twine.

Milk 'stache

More than Words inaugural January challenge

So there is a new kid in town - lol. There is a new challenge site out there in the big wide world, and I must say, it's just a little exciting. More than Words challenges are something to keep a watch out for. Their first challenge for January 2016 is to use a selfie photo and scrap about your personality.

 

I am one of those people who does struggle to scrap about myself, but I need to start embracing who I am, and that is pretty much what I have chosen to scrap about with my personality - a person who lacks confidence, and doesn't like to rock the boat. I am on a path to discovering myself at nearly 52, and I am on a path to changing me. So I took on the challenge, and this is what I came up with. 

I am a work in progress

 Of late, I have been enjoying doing clean scrapping, very little mixed media. However, for this challenge, I felt the mixed media which I was enjoying last year was needed for this layout. I especially love the Charms Charms DIY heavenly heart, which I stamped, stenciled and then sprayed. I also love the Rainbow Splendour bow, a recent acquisition to my stash.

I am happy with the end result of this layout.
