Stuck?!Sketches! February 15 DT layout

Hi everyone, back with the second of my Stuck?!Sketches! February DT layouts. Here is the February 15 sketch:
I decided to keep this layout fairly traditional style scrapbooking, incorporating some memorabilia onto the layout. I have added the program from my daughters nursing graduation in place of the star on the sketch. I felt it important to add this to the layout, to tell some of the story.
I added a script stencil to the background, to represent the hours of writing she did during her studies.
For embellishment in place of the stars, I added some chipboard and the tassel.
This wasn't the easiest photo to scrap, but it is done, and will be added to her album.

Funky Flairs Studio creative team share #1 February

Hi everyone, today I share my 1st February creative team layout for Funky Flair Studio.
This layout is using a photo of my very cute great nephew, Rome. This photo taken back in October last year. He doesn't look like this anymore, they grow too quickly.
I started to create a mixed media background on some patterned paper, and it just looked terrible, I didn't want to throw it out, as some parts of it looked great. So I decided to cut out 9 squares from what I had created, mount that on paper and use it as a background for the photo. I love how that worked. I then added some stamping and of course the flairs.
Cherish this boy
Unfortunately, the flairs I have used, are no longer available from the shop, but there will be something similar released soon with the next collection release. I loved the rustic, yet summery feel about these flairs. They made me think of the beach, and this photo was taken in a park near the beach, on a lovely sunny day. Isn't it funny how something so small can give you that feel. Here are the flairs.

Stuck?!Sketches! February 1 DT layout

Hi everyone, this is my share for Stuck?!Sketches!  February 1 challenge. Here is the sketch:
I loved this sketch for the ability to add a few photos and tell a bit of a story. I chose some photos from our holiday in Hawaii last year. My husband was trying to take photos of me on the beach, the sun was very glarey, so it was hard to have a photo without squinting or covering my eyes. So these photos are quite candid really.
I wanted a tropical feel to the layout, so used pink and yellow in my colours with the blue. I added a large chipboard flower, thanks to my old stash, which is in place of the star. I even added some old ricrac. It's a bit of fun to see what is in the old stash and use some of it.

The sun in my eyes
Hope you join us for the challenge.

Show Us Your Stuff February DT layout

Hi everyone, February already, are you ready for a new challenge from Show Us Your Stuff?
This month we have an awesome sketch to play with:
No automatic alt text available.
I really love this sketch, it is pretty versatile.
I chose a photo of my niece and her partner. Given that February is the month for love, I thought this layout appropriate. I kept the layout reasonably simple, and allowed the photo to really star with the blues and browns.
My handmade items are a Charms Creations Heavenly Heart, and a Funky Flairs Studio flair

I hope we see you play along with this challenge, and don't forget your handmade item.

Scrap the Girls February DT layout

Hi everyone, I am pleased to announce, I have been selected to join the design team at Scrap The Girls. It's very exciting, as I have been wanting to join this team for a long time.
So for the February challenge, there is an awesome sketch to play along with:
How cool is this sketch? For those of you who love multiple photos, then this is up your alley. For those of you who struggle with multiple photos, give it a go, you will be surprised.
I chose photos of a friends daughter and granddaughter, they were pulling faces in their selfie photos - great mother and daughter bonding, lol.
I loved getting creative with this layout, even used purple, which is the colour I hate to use the most!.
I sprayed with glimmermist and stamped around the border, also added texture paste. My layout features a spotty heavenly heart from Charms Creations.
I even dug into my old stash and found some transparency flowers that I think worked.

I hope you join in the fun of this challenge.

Kraft + January 2017 challenge

Wow, it's Australia Day, nearly the end of January. Time is flying by already. I had to take some time to stop and do this challenge from Kraft +, and this one is very appealing:
I found this photo of my kids from way back, in 1994 and I love it, they were close then, they still are. Kieran had to be strapped onto the tricycle to be able to stay on.
Anyway, I created the background, with stamping and stenciling. I had this pinwheel stencil in my stash, which reminded me a little of the spokes on a bike. As the photo is a bit older, I decided to give the layout a little vintage touch as well, with some doilies.
I added a wood veneer bike, and also a bike flair from Funky Flairs Studio. To top it all off, a Charms Creations heavenly heart finished it off.
I really enjoyed creating this layout and playing along with this challenge.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and for any comments you may leave.

Funky Flairs creative team share January

Back again with the second of my creative team shares for January at Funky Flairs Studio.
This one is using a photo from my holiday in Hawaii last July. Of course there are lots of obligatory beach photos, and this photo is the first day we were in Waikiki.
Aloha
I had a lot of fun doing mixed media on this layout, stamping, gesso, texture paste with stencils, stamping - lots of layers - my favourite way to do mixed media.
I used the awesome flairs from the November/December 2015 release - To the beach collection. They say it all really.
Happy scrapping.

Stuck Sketches January 15 challenge

I am back with the second Stuck?!Sketches installment for January, the January 15 sketch.
Here is the sketch:
I loved this sketch when I first saw it.
My husband, son and I went to a Keith Urban concert in December. I knew this sketch would be great for any photos we took of the concert, so I made sure we took lots of photos, lol. I must also say, how awesome Keith Urban is as an entertainer, and a genuinely nice bloke. It was a great night out.
Anyway, I wanted this layout to be fairly clean and graphic. The photos are from a distance, so I didn't think there should be too much distraction from them.
I have also kept the embellishing fairly simple, but did include a Charms Creations denim super star and terrific tab. I also added a tag, card and wood veneer from Flutterby designs

I hope we see you join us for the challenge.

Funky Flairs Studio Creative Team share #1 January

Well the new year sees me on another new creative team, this one is for Funky Flair Studio. So today, I have one of my 2 monthly shares for you.
This layout is of a friends grand-daughter, she is a delightful little girl. I loved these photos of her enjoying the simplicity of bubbles - who doesn't enjoy bubbles?
Bubble Fun
I took inspiration for the layout from the colours in the photo and from the bubbles, creating my own "paper bubbles". I used a sketch by Laura Whitaker from Stuck?!Sketches - sometimes I get stuck on how to create a layout, lol.
The flairs I have used are from the September 2016 collection - Life is tweet. These flairs are perfect additions to little girl pages.
I added a bit more fun to the layout with a star from Charms Creations
Happy Scrapping.

Stuck?!Sketches January 1st challenge

Happy New Year for 2017.
It's time for a new challenge at Stuck?!Sketches, and this one should keep you happy, just as they all do. Here is the sketch:
No automatic alt text available.
For my layout, I used an autumn photo, which I know sounds odd, given this time of year. However, Charms Creations is a sponsor for this challenge this month, and I was sent a product to use - the apricot terrific tab and the DIY star. So given the apricot colour, I decided to use this photo, and did an autumn theme layout.
I sprayed the patterned paper, added some rubons and then some washi tape, stamped images and some die cut leaves.
To my DIY star, I added some texture paste through some plasterers tape, but this doesn't show up very well. I then misted it, and stamped on it. I love the end result.
I also added a flair from Funky Flairs Studio
Anyway, I hope you have time to join us for the challenge.

White With 1 January challenge

Happy New Year 2017.
I am delighted to be a part of the team at White With 1. So today I am sharing the new challenge for January. This month there is a moodboard to play with as well as the colour, which is PRINCESS PINK:
Image may contain: 1 person
How pretty is this? So for all those girly layouts, let your hair down, and go with the pink.
I chose photos from my daughters 21st, already over 5 years ago. This colour was perfect for her photos, as was the moodboard.
I didn't have a lot of pink of this colour in my stash, but did find enough to manage my layout.  Lol, I have used some quite old Love Elsie products, but they worked. I added a spotty cellophane lolly bag under the scrapping papers. I used white leaves instead of pink ones to soften the page a little. I have added some flairs from Funky Flair Studio
Have fun with the challenge.

Show Us Your Stuff January challenge

Happy New Year 2017.
I really do hope this year doesn't go as fast as 2016.
Anyway, welcome to the challenge at Show Us Your Stuff. Here is the challenge:
Image may contain: outdoor
So this will be great for your summer holiday photos. My photo is from a summer a few years ago now.
I love the Cocoa Vanilla products, and this one Hello Sunshine from a season ago, is still very appropriate to use. I added a Charms Creations arrow and a flair from Funky Flairs Studio
Happy creating.
Fun in the sun

Scrapbooking Top 50 December challenge

I decided to have a go at the challenge at Scrapbooking Top 50 this month, given it is a Christmas inspired challenge.
I loved the earthiness and rustic appeal of this moodboard. I had a photo of a Santa life art statue taken in the city, that I thought might be good for this challenge. However, I didn't have much in the way of wood inspired objects that would work. I altered a piece of music patterned paper with gesso, ink, stamping and crackle texture paste. I had a sheet of Kaisercraft stickers, a few years old now, and these worked well, so I took the inspiration for my layout from the flowers. I cut the stickers in half and layered them around the photo. I then found some wood veneer baubles and a star, and that gave me the wood element I was looking for. I think it turned out ok.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and for any comments you may leave.

Kraft plus December challenge

So it is Boxing Day today, and after a hectic week at work, then preparing for Christmas, I have given myself today to scrap. No cooking, no cleaning, no chores - it's fend for yourself day today.
So I have managed to sneak in a layout for the Challenge at Kraft Plus. Here is the challenge:
I loved the sound of this challenge, until it came to doing it, lol. So I guess I really was challenged. I decided to scrap about my cat, Tess. She will lay down in many places around our home, usually wherever I am. She follows me around whenever I am at home. Even today she was sitting with me when I was scrapping, but then she wanted to steal my chair - this can be a constant game. In the photos I have used she is laying in a suitcase, on the lounge, and sitting behind an old sewing machine. These are but a few of the spots she chooses.
I created a background with crackle texture paste and Ken Oliver colour bursts, then stamped over this. I added some cotton thread, and my photos, title, journaling and embellishing. I have embellished minimally, it doesn't need too much, in my opinion anyway. I used a Charms Creations heavenly heart with cat, and a flair and journal tag from Flutterby designs
Thanks for looking at my layout, and for any comments you may leave.

Stuck?!Sketches December 15 sketch challenge

Not far till Christmas now, but there is still hopefully a bit of time to squeeze in some scrapping.
So at Stuck?! Sketches we have a really nice sketch to round out the year, take a look:
It really couldn't be any easier for the mad season, so I hope you feel inspired enough to have a go at this sketch.
I have created using a photo of my nephews and myself, taken at our family Christmas 2015. It is not often the whole family gets together for Christmas as we live in different states, but this year we had a bit of fun with camera, props and a frame.
I dug out a few handmade items from my stash, from swaps with friends from years gone by, they worked well for this layout. I also added a Charms Creations super star to my layout, along with some flairs from D-lish Scraps
I am pretty pleased with this layout, it's a bit of fun, a little bit of over the top, but I figure Christmas is allowed to be.
Hohoho
