Scrap the Girls November

Hey friends, it is November, already! It is astonishing how time flies. Anyway, the new challenge at Scrap the Girls has this interesting moodboard to use:
I took inspiration from the blue in Cinderella's dress, the red roses and the cards in the hat. I had this lovely photo of my daughter to use.
I created a stamped and textured background for the layout, and then embellished it simply. I have a miniature pack of playing cards, not sure where they came from, but I tucked one in amongst the emellishments. I added some little red roses, added some stamped feathers and a little wood veneer frame.
A beautiful life

Scrap the Girls June challenge DT share

Well, it's winter, how does that feel? Brrr, it will be chilly here in southern Australia.
Anyway, time for a new challenge at Scrap the Girls. I hope you like this one:
I really like this moodboard, friendship is such an important thing. So I used this photo of my daughter and one of her best friends, friends since they were 10. They took this selfie at a party, so I thought the photo needed a bit of a look at me theme, hence the paper and the title. I was inspired by the images of the friends in the moodboard.
I created the background using a stencil and texture paste, then added paint over that. I also did some inking with a variety of stamps. I stamped the words friends and for the record,, and the frame, a very cute stamp pack. I embossed the wood veneer, and finally added the Charms Creations heavenly heart.

Kraft plus May challenge

Well the new challenge at Kraft plus is an interesting one, based on a date:
So just add a date to the layout, well that's pretty simple. I took inspiration from the graphic with the stamped dates, and the image that was on the facebook group, thank you post with a hint in it. I liked how the dates were hidden in the graphic, and I tried to replicate this a little.
So I have stamped around the edge of the kraft with a variety of stamps, as well as the date stamp. I then continued stamping over the layout. Next came some spraying and splats.
As a base for the photo, I added a page from an old calendar, which was in fact June. I knew I held onto that calendar for a reason, lol. I have stamped flowers and coloured them, tucked them in around the photo, then came all the embellishing. I wanted to try to stay monochromatic, so the hint of pink is just enough. I also added the date with stickers.
The title I die cut from leather, as my daughter is wearing a leather jacket.
Thanks again for a great challenge.
Happy Birthday

Scrap the Girls May challenge

Wow, where did April go? I can't believe how quickly time flies by. So I guess it's time to share the new challenge at Scrap the Girls for May.
So for my layout, I chose photos from my daughters 15th birthday party, which was a pink themed party. Not hard to do, especially when there are a bunch of 15 year old girls involved. There was pink everywhere that day.
I was inspired by the girls tutu, the balloons, and the party theme.
I started with some pink and white background paper and then added some really old paper, which worked well. Washi tape, stamps, wood veneer, and a tutu flower to embellish. Final embellishments are a Charms Creations heavenly heart and arrow.

CSI Case file #250

The new challenge is up at CSI, which was quite fun to do. Here is the challenge:
Remember you don't have to use all of the clues to create a layout now for the challenge, you can just be inspired by the scene. I was inspired by the scene for my layout, and used a few of the clues as well. I had a little handmade house, that I thought would work well to replicate the house in the scene. My layout is about my daughters first day at kinder. Using a number of other handmade elements including a Charms Creations arrow and cute clouds, along with a handmade flair. The colours were fun and cheery to work with.

Scrapping Clearly March challenge

I have just spent the weekend at a retreat, and managed to get some scrapping done. Another couple of attendees at the retreat were Kylie Tout and Kim Kendall from Scrapping Clearly. Anyway, they asked me if I was going to have a go at the Scrapping Clearly challenge for March, so I had time on my hands at the retreat and did just that. Here is the challenge:
So I had 2 photos that I could have used for this, when I looked at the quote, lol, I had a photo of me with drink in hand. However, I changed my mind and used the photo on my layout of myself and my daughter. I loved the quote, but I shortened it. I thought that was appropriate for this layout.
My daughter changed her career a couple of years ago, committing to study, to gain her enrolled nurse diploma. She worked hard at it, and has since been a graduate nurse, and now continues on her journey. She is also planning soon to return to uni to complete her studies to become a registered nurse.
I flipped the sketch, as it worked better for the photo. I used texture paste and stencil for the background, applied some spray ink. I also fussy cut some floral paper and added flowers and other embellishments that I had on hand at the retreat.
I really am raising a strong girl, who is becoming as equally a strong woman. 2 nurses in the family makes for some punch, lol.

Kraft plus January 2018 challenge

After missing the challenge at Kraft plus last month, (it was a very busy December), I managed to sit down and get this months challenge done. December was the first challenge that I didn't do, since Kraft plus started. Here is the new challenge:

I love this graphic, and now I am looking at it again, I need to go make another coffee, lol.
My daughter Melanie has desperately wanted a coffee maker, I have had no room in my kitchen for one, but now she has moved out of home, she asked for one for Christmas, so that was what she got. She was very pleased, and has been making many coffees.
I created the background with stamping, texture paste, sprays. I matted my photo on patterned paper and then onto some fabric. I added some prills around the page for a bit of extra texture. I have various flairs on the page from Cuts 2 love and D-lish Scraps. The layout was completed with a Charms Creations heavenly heart
Thanks again Kraft plus team for another awesome challenge.

CSI case file 240 - October 15

The mid month challenge for October at CSI is a beauty, and sure to inspire with it's shabby chic appeal:

I decided to scrap about my daughters 8th birthday, the colours in the photo suited the challenge criteria.
For my evidence I have used polka dots and stripes, heart, cupcakes, flowers, ricrac, texture paste and I have sprinkled around some confetti. I think I have the evidence covered, lol.
I really like this challenge for it's soft tones in the pink and blue, but then the pop of red.
I have used a Charms Creations heavenly heart to finish the layout off.

White with 1 October challenge

Time for a new challenge at White with 1, with the start of October (already - eek). This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we are going pink:
No automatic alt text available.
with an an optional sketch:
No automatic alt text available.
The softness of this pink was tricky to replicate, and I had very little in my stash that was the right tone, so I am afraid the pink is a bit deeper on my layout. I used the sketch this month, it is a lovely sketch from Pagemaps
I created the background with my gelli plate, paint and Ken Oliver colour bursts. I had hoped the pink would tone down a touch with the white paint, but it didn't. The rest of the layout came together with stamped images, flowers, die cut feathers and a Charms Creations heavenly heart
I hope you have fun with the challenge, but also take some time to be breast cancer aware.

CSI colour challenges # 237 September

It is time for the new challenge at CSI colour challenge for September, here is the challenge:
So this is a great challenge for all of those school photos of your own or your kids. I chose a photo of my daughter, who was on a school camp. The camp was at a place called Sovereign Hill, which is in Ballarat, Victoria, Australia. Ballarat is an old gold mining town, and at Sovereign Hill, when the kids attend school camp, they have to dress in clothing from the 1880's and attend school like the kids back then would have had to. It is a great experience for them, and this is Melanie's photo from that camp.
For my evidence, I have used grid pattern, book page, washi tape, label, scissors and ruler. I tried to keep to a vintage theme to the layout, and added script with texture paste, some stamping, flowers, doily and pearl swirl.
So my testimony is then about the school camp at Sovereign Hill.

Scrap the Girls September challenge

September, and spring time and time for new challenge at Scrap the Girls, with this lovely sketch:
No automatic alt text available.
So much possibility with this sketch don't you think? Initially I added the 3rd focal point in the right hand corner to my layout, but it looked too heavy, so I started back from scratch, and left it as 2 focal points.
I quite like how the layout looks spring like and fresh.
The title was getting lost on top of the cluster, so I cut some black cardstock out in the shape of the acrylic title, which made it pop. I then had to add a bit more black to the layout to make it balanced. The background was made with stencilling and texture paste and some spray ink.
It was finished off with a Charms Creations heavenly heart with butterfly
I hope you feel inspired by this challenge and have a go at it.

Kraft plus July challenge

So the new challenge at Kraft plus, is very interesting. When I first saw this, I didn't think I could do it, but thank goodness for the awesome inspiration from the DT, as it changed my perspective on the moodboard.
So I think it was the skull that threw me, and once I tool that out of the picture for myself, I proceeded with the challenge.
I have actually used roses 6 ways, lol. I used a rose themed photo, a title with rose, rose stencil, rose sticker, rose flowers and some die cut roses. Maybe too much? It is very rosy!
I have used a Charms Creations hessian heavenly heart on my layout, and Charms Creations is a sponsor for the challenge this month.
So I reckon I have met the brief.

Scrap our stash April challenge

It is a long time since I have done a Scrap Our Stash challenge, and I love the concept of using what is in your stash, as opposed to buying something new. It is just getting around to the challenges, that is the problem, lol. Anyway, here is the April challenge:
April Tic Tac Toe Stash Challenge
I used the row stitching, flowers and ephemera. The ephemera I used were some clothing tags (diamonds on black), and the cardboard backing from a packet of butterflies. I die cut some doilies from paper that I was not going to use as it was. The flowers were a recent purchase back in March, and were the perfect colour for the layout. This is my daughters diploma of nursing graduation.
Thanks for looking at my layout and for any comments you may leave.

Stuck Sketches April 1 challenge

It's April Fools day. no joke, it is already April!
So it is time for the new challenge at Stuck?!Sketches!
No automatic alt text available.
How lovely is this sketch?
I used a photo of my daughter from her recent nursing graduation.
I kept this simple, and used a lovely stencil with a ring, in place of the heart. I used a dauber and ink to achieve this.
I die cut some leaves, used other strips of paper, die cuts and flowers to achieve the embellishing. To finish the layout, I used a doily and a Charms Creations arrow.
I hope to see you join us for this challenge.
Congratulations

Scrap the Girls April challenge - DT share

Slow down 2017, I can't believe it is April!
So that means there is a new challenge to play along with at Scrap the Girls. It is this lovely moodboard:
So for this lovely moodboard, I decided to scrap a photo of my daughter from her diploma of nursing graduation held last year. I took inspiration from the sash she was wearing, which matched the colours in the moodboard perfectly. I also took a bit of inspiration from the windows and the bushes in the image of the house. So I die cut some leaves, and also used some door paper and die cuts from a Kaisercraft collection. I created the background with a stencil and some Colour Blast colour paste. I then applied a wash using Silks, a new product to me.
I added a Charms Creations super star, and some Corbett Creations wood veneer to the page.
I hope you join in on this challenge.

Stuck?!Sketches! February 15 DT layout

Hi everyone, back with the second of my Stuck?!Sketches! February DT layouts. Here is the February 15 sketch:
I decided to keep this layout fairly traditional style scrapbooking, incorporating some memorabilia onto the layout. I have added the program from my daughters nursing graduation in place of the star on the sketch. I felt it important to add this to the layout, to tell some of the story.
I added a script stencil to the background, to represent the hours of writing she did during her studies.
For embellishment in place of the stars, I added some chipboard and the tassel.
This wasn't the easiest photo to scrap, but it is done, and will be added to her album.
