White with 1 December challenge

It's December!. Ok, I am happy to put up the Christmas decorations now, I refuse to do this before 1st December, lol. 

Anyway, the new challenge is up at White with 1. This is my last layout I will be sharing as a design team member, I have chosen to step down from the team. This months challenge screams Christmas to me. There is an accompanying sketch that is optional, but I chose not to use it: 

So I used this very cute photo of my nephews, taken with Santa, at a market. I used a star stencil, texture paste and paint to create my background. I also die cut stars to add to the layout, and added some trees, and stockings. The final addition was the Charms Creations super star.

White with 1 November challenge

So it is November, and the year has flown. With the new month, the challenge is here for White with 1 :

Now ordinarily I don't scrap much with yellow. I loved this one though, it made for a fun layout, and very summery. 

I started with some colour using Tim Holtz oxides on the white cardstock. I then added some  patterned paper, and texture paste randomly over this. I then stamped using archival ink and also did some embossing. I framed the photo, with a cute little wood veneer frame, and then added anything yellow that worked, including a little pineapple, coz why not. 

I finished off with a Charms Creations denim and hessian chevron. 

I love how this turned out, considering I don't much do yellow.

At the Beach

White with 1 October challenge

Time for a new challenge at White with 1, with the start of October (already - eek). This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we are going pink:

with an an optional sketch: 

The softness of this pink was tricky to replicate, and I had very little in my stash that was the right tone, so I am afraid the pink is a bit deeper on my layout. I used the sketch this month, it is a lovely sketch from Pagemaps. 

I created the background with my gelli plate, paint and Ken Oliver colour bursts. I had hoped the pink would tone down a touch with the white paint, but it didn't. The rest of the layout came together with stamped images, flowers, die cut feathers and a Charms Creations heavenly heart.

September White with 1 challenge

September, and a new challenge at White With 1, and this is a really pretty colour, with the moodboard as extra inspiration:

I felt this colour deserved something soft and pretty, a bit like the bunny. I chose a photo of a niece and her baby girl. 

I created a coloured texture paste with gelato, and then stencilled that onto the cardstock. I added some stamping, and then did some die cutting. I also sprayed a paper doily and a die cut shape with a spray bottle. 

I finished off the layout with the embellishing, including a Charms Creations heavenly heart, which was the perfect colour. 

I hope you feel inspired by this colour to give it a go.

White With 1 August DT share

August! How fast this year has gone. A new month, brings a new challenge. The new challenge at White with 1 is a beauty. Here is the colour, silver light:

Initially I wasn't inspired by this colour, but when I searched through my photos, I had a great idea come to mind. I really wanted to allow the silver to shine, so I used a lot of mixed media, with stamping, stenciling, texture paste, silver embossing powder, silver spray and silver paint over the texture paste. I coloured the chipboard with silver paint as well. I die cut using silver cardstock, added some silver crystals and chipboard die cuts. The finishing touch was the Charms Creations silver glitter heavenly heart. The silver theme was perfect with the soft hues in the photo. 

I will actually admit, that this is one of my favourite personal pieces. Just a bit disappointed the shine isn't as obvious on the screen.

White with 1 July challenge

Well it is now half way through the year, and time is flying by, with a new challenge at White with 1.

and some inspiration: 

So I really don't like scrapping with purple, and I know I am not alone. It wouldn't be a challenge though if we weren't challenged, right? So this is what I have come up with. A layout featuring a very cute little girl, Addison, sipping on a baby cino.

So when you are not particularly drawn to a colour, having appropriate embellishments in your stash proves tricky. But I did manage to find some bits and pieces, including a crochet flower, a flair, tag and a Charms Creations heavenly heart. I coloured some texture paste with some purple ink to give me my background.

So it's winter, brrrr. It's also time for a new challenge at White with 1. This month we have Teal Sequins and an accompanying sketch:

For my layout, I flipped the sketch, which worked well for these photos taken at some beautiful gardens here in Melbourne. The William Rickets Sanctuary is a very special place, well worth the visit, if you are ever visiting. The colour this month really suited my photos. 

I really wanted the photos to be the focus on this layout, so restricted my use of mixed media, with just a bit of stamping. Otherwise I embellished with die cuts, flairs, flowers and wood veneer.

William Rickets Sanctuary

White with 1 May challenge DT share

So it's time for a new challenge at White With 1, and here is the challenge, deep black and a moodboard:

Now I had the perfect photo for this moodboard, a photo of a girlfriends grand-daughter, Addison. We went for a visit to a garden last year, and there was a giant chess game, Addison decided to play it by herself, so I very much took inspiration from the chess pieces. This layout fell together really well for me, I ordinarily struggle with black and white. 

With the use of the checkerboard stencil for the background, I was able to create a "chess board". The rest of the embellishing was with die cuts and flowers. I also added a Charms Creations diamond embellishment (no longer available).

White With 1 April challenge

So it's time for a new challenge already, time is flying by, and the challenge at White with 1 is just lovely - Helium Blue:

I used the sketch as a guide to my layout, but also created the background to highlight the colour. I used this with the negative image of the stencil with Ken Oliver colour blasts, as I didn't really like the positive of the stencil in this case. 

I added some punchinella, transparency, wood veneer, chipboard and stitching to my layout, lots of different textures. I also added a Charms Creations super star to my layout. 

This colour is so beautiful and so versatile.

White with 1 March challenge

Oh, it's March already! This year has really now started to fly by.
I am here to share my creative team layout for White With 1. This month the colour is orange, with a moodboard to inspire:

 

So for my layout, I chose a black and white photo, of my daughter and myself, just prior to our hot air balloon ride, 2 years ago. We had feelings of excitement but also some fear of the unknown.

On my layout, I created a background using texture paste, misting and rub ons. It's amazing how elements like this boost a layout, when you are restricted to one colour.
I then added the patterned papers, and embellishments, finishing with a Charms Creations heavenly heart.
Orange is a great colour to use, it provides so much vibrancy. I hope you join in the challenge.

Hi everyone, I am back with my creative team share for February for White With 1. I think you are going to like this colour:

So what do you think you could do with this combination?

I chose a photo of my kids, from just a few years ago, 1999, lol. I loved how the denim in their photo matched the colour for this month. 

I created my background using some plasterers tape, and coloured texture paste, which I spread through the tape. I added lots of sttamping and washi tape. You can see an interpretation of the sketch in my layout, somewhat, lol. 

I added a Charms Creations denim heavenly heart, a perfect addition to the layout.

White With 1 January challenge

Happy New Year 2017.
I am delighted to be a part of the team at White With 1. So today I am sharing the new challenge for January. This month there is a moodboard to play with as well as the colour, which is PRINCESS PINK:

How pretty is this? So for all those girly layouts, let your hair down, and go with the pink. 

I chose photos from my daughters 21st, already over 5 years ago. This colour was perfect for her photos, as was the moodboard. 

I didn't have a lot of pink of this colour in my stash, but did find enough to manage my layout.  Lol, I have used some quite old Love Elsie products, but they worked. I added a spotty cellophane lolly bag under the scrapping papers. I used white leaves instead of pink ones to soften the page a little. I have added some flairs from Funky Flair Studio.

White with 1 October challenge

I haven't done a White with 1 challenge for a while, just seem to run out of time lately. The colour for October challenge is cayenne:

Now this is not ordinarily a colour I would choose to use a lot of, but I seem to be trying things out of my comfort zone a bit of late, so I thought why not. 

I have been wanting to scrap these photo booth photos for a while, and I think they worked perfectly for this challenge.

I sprayed the cardstock with some glimmer mist - it kind of looks like a blood bath, but anyway I ran with it. 

I used some handmade paper and embellished with an x and o from Charms Creations, and a Studio Fourteen40 flair. I decided to leave the wood veneer raw, I think it helped to tone it all down a little.

White With 1 January challenge

I've been scrapping with my friend Alz Callcott, this weekend, and after a weekend of making layouts, and feeling finished, she challenged me to another challenge. "Do the White With 1 challenge" she said. "It's green, and you know how much I hate green", I said. She said, "do the challenge, and set yourself a time limit to do it". I said, "Ok, I'll do it in 1 hour". Game on. I did the challenge, and I did it in 1 hour and 1 minute - go me, lol.
I am glad Alz challenged me to the challenge, as I have been wanting to scrap this photo from the Singapore Zoo,  for a while now, and without her pushing me I wouldn't have done it. I still hate green though.
So I used a Kaisercraft die to cut out some leaves, (purchased that over the weekend, when we went shopping - shhhhh!) Perfect die for this layout. I used another sizzix die from Alz stash, and voila, I had a layout on my hands.

I also added a Charms Creations DIY map marker to my layout, which I stamped on then sprayed with glimmermist. The flairs are from D-lish Scraps. 

I am so very pleased with the way this layout turned out, even though I hate green, and even though I did it so quickly - less thought more just doing!

Giraffes

White With 1 October challenge - Chloe

The challenge at White With 1 for October is to use peach with white:

This is such a pretty colour, so I used a photo of great-niece Chloe for this layout.

I started by colouring some texture paste with a gelato, and spread that through a stencil. I then stencilled with some Bo Bunny glitter paste, and then stamped using a Tim Holtz stamp. 

I really loved the Bo Bunny patterned paper underneath the photo, loved the little girls in the corner. 

I applied some Tinby designs embossing powder to the Scrap FX chipboard, applied this to the side of the photo, and added a smattering of clear beads.

I diecut Chloe's name with chipboard and patterned paper - remember when we used to do that all the time? LOL. More clear beads scattered around the title.

My cluster includes a doily that I hand dyed from Charms Creations, some wire thread, resin and ribbon flower and a Charms Creations heavenly heart.

I love the overall pretty effect of the layout,
