White with 1 March challenge

Oh, it's March already! This year has really now started to fly by.
I am here to share my creative team layout for White With 1. This month the colour is orange, with a moodboard to inspire:

So for my layout, I chose a black and white photo, of my daughter and myself, just prior to our hot air balloon ride, 2 years ago. We had feelings of excitement but also some fear of the unknown.
On my layout, I created a background using texture paste, misting and rub ons. It's amazing how elements like this boost a layout, when you are restricted to one colour.
I then added the patterned papers, and embellishments, finishing with a Charms Creations heavenly heart.
Orange is a great colour to use, it provides so much vibrancy. I hope you join in the challenge.
Adventure awaits

White With 1 April Challenge - Sand

The April challenge at White with 1, is to use the colour sand with white:
ww1 sand
I had a few thoughts running through my head that could be used for this challenge, but funnily enough none of those came out on the layout.
I chose this photo of my hot air balloon ride for the challenge, and then it all started evolving from there. I used a Scrap FX stencil with texture paste for the background, then sprayed it with Lindy's stamp gang mist, to create an almost ombre effect to the cardstock. I then stamped over the background with a Prima Stamp. I built up layers of Basic Grey patterned paper, with some vintage magazine paper, some of which I used a Couture Creations die on. Then the embellishments, including a Charms Creations map marker. I guess I have varying shades of sand on here.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and any comments you may leave.

Off The Rails March Challlenge

This is the first Off The Rails challenge that I have done, but I don't think it will be the last. The challenge was to be inspired by the following sketch and colour scheme, designed by Fiona Paltridge:
I recently went to the E2C retreat in South Australia, where I met a lot of lovely women, including Fiona, although we've been facebook friends for some time - I think I need to admit I might have been a little star struck - lol - (but it truly was an honour to meet you Fiona).
Anyway, this is one of the challenges I did at the retreat, and I loved it. The colours and the sketch worked well for one of the photos from my recent hot air balloon ride (a 50th birthday present).
I used a TCW stencil and ink to create the hexagon background, then layered a heap of patterned paper together, in a technique I learned at the retreat in a class with Kim Price, and a technique I now call "just stick it down". I have then added a few different embellishments and rubons to my page with some cotton. I think this layout took me about 2 hours to create - a far cry from my usual 7-8 hours of procrastination, lol.
Thanks for looking at my layout and any comments you may leave.

D-lish Scraps February Cybercrop challenge by Cindy

This is the last of the challenges that I had a go at for the D-lish Scraps February Cybercrop, a challenge set by the talented Cindy Porter. This was Cindy's challenge:
For this challenge, I decided to use a photo from my recent hot air balloon ride with daughter Melanie, that we did on Australia Day. It was an awesome experience, riding high above the beautiful Yarra Valley.
I die cut my title and the balloons from some burlap, using sizzix alpha dies and my favourite things balloon die and stamp set. That added my texture, along with the texture paste in the background. The metal embellishments were the Tim Holtz disc and the metal flowers. D-lish Scraps products used were the button flair (not the balloon one), journaling tag and the flowers, all found in store.
With the background I used a Crafters Workshop template, and tried to emulate the look of the balloon, not sure it worked as I had it in mind, but it looks kind of funky anyway.
Thanks for looking, and any comments you may leave.

Scrapping Outback February Challenge

For February the challenge at Scrapping Outback is to be inspired by the image as below:

I had the perfect photos to choose for this challenge, from a very recent hot air balloon ride I did over the Yarra Valley with my daughter (a 50th birthday present). It was an enjoyable experience, except for the 3am wake up. The morning was otherwise glorious, and the sunrise did not disappoint, nor did the balloon ride, quite exhilarating.
For my layout, I was inspired by the colours, and I chose to create my background using string to apply the colour, I was trying to capture the feeling of sunrise, it didn't quite work on paper the same as it did in my head, but I'm quite happy with the effect regardless.
My chipboard pieces are a balloon die cut from JT's later cuts, which I coloured using Zig wink of stella brush, and another 2 that I stamped onto chipboard using a My favourite things stamp.
Thanks for looking at my layout and any comments you may leave.
