Scrap the Girls September DT share - Crazy Chicks

Can you believe it is September? I can't. So here is the new challenge for September at Scrap the Girls:

I have used sketches a lot as inspiration for a layout, but this one threw me, know idea why, but I pulled my big girl socks up and after discarding my first layout, I decided on this one.
I think my problem was initally I was trying to use the 3 small photos, and it wasn't working, so when I decided to used just one photo, but keeping the sketch in mind, it came together. I have also tweeked the sketch a little, by putting the title at the bottom of the page - swapping it with the details, which I have added to the top of the page.
I stamped a few flowers, coloured them and fussy cut them. I used some Dusty Attic chibpoard with cogs, and the grungy paper, to give the grungy feel to this layout. Given that the photo is monotone, I wanted to add some colour to the layout, and did this with the flowers, and spraying the background paper.
I had some die cuts from Created by Gwen, to add a pop of white to the layout. They are lovely die cuts to work with.
The final touch to the layout, is the inclusion of the Charms Creations DIY star, which I have stamped on and coloured with 2 different colours.

Scrap the Girls August DT share

So it's August, and time for another challenge at Scrap the Girls. Here is the challenge:
Image may contain: text
I really wasn't sure how to tackle this layout, using grey. For me, it is such a masculine colour. That's why challenges are great, they get you to think outside the square. So I ran with it, and the grey was a fantastic base colour for a busy and somewhat colourful photo.
I was inspired by the paint chips and the word weird. I used 2 different stencils and shades of grey. I then added stamping, die cuts, washi tape, flowers, journaling tags and flairs in grey.
My photo was from last years Scrap and Chat retreat. The reference to weird was more a play on words, and the fact that so many diverse women can all come together, do their scrapping and have an enjoyable time. I think many people would find this weird, even though it's not, lol.

CSI Casefile #233 July

So the new challenge at CSI colour challenges is just really charming. I had so much fun with this:
So I decided to use something related to the weekend, and although not a ritual, I took the word relax as extra inspiration. So I scrapped about a very relaxing scrapping retreat that I went to in July last year. I had a fabulous time, and did very much relax and scrapped, and met a whole lot of friends. One of these friends was the Charmane Koch, the designer of Charms Creations, who I am on the design team for.
For the evidence I used stripes, text print, straw, flowers, string, decorative border, triangles and watercolour (coloured textured paste with gelato - for script stencil background).
I hope to see your creations for this challenge.

Scrap the Girls June DT share

Winter, brrr, I don't want to endure the next 3 months of cold, so I guess I am going to have to keep myself busy scrapping. This month Scrap the Girls is sure to tempt you to join in on the challenge:
How lovely is this sketch? I had a lot of fun with this layout, layering lots of flowers onto the layout. I used a fun photo from a retreat I attended last year with these lovely girls, Cindy Porter and Ros Madley. If you haven't been on a retreat before, give it a go, they are a lot of fun. The dress up theme for this one was 80's.
I used an old transparency, which I cut a circle out of , added the photo on top of that then all the layering of flowers and leaf die cuts. I think I nearly used a whole packet of die cuts, lol.
Anyway, I hope you join us for the challenge this month.

D-lish Scraps DT layout August - Enjoy the Moment

This is the second of my August shares for you.
For this layout, I was inspired by a current challenge in the Scrap Suite on facebook, a challenge set by Sonia Cotugno. Here is the challenge:
I love adding texture to my layouts, so this challenge was a no brainer for me, lol. I started by tearing the edges of the patterned paper, and then stitching it to the white cardstock. I then added some gesso and texture paste.
I used a photo of Amanda (boss lady) and myself, taken on a recent retreat, it was the first time we had met.
I added more texutre to the layout with my embellishing, and used some florists wrap in pink, around the layout. I matted the photo on a 5 x 7 paper bag. I tucked another paper bag under the 5 x 7. I used a Journal its journaling tag, which is tucked inside the bitty bag. On top of this is a 3 inch paper doily,  ( so cute), star flowerminifetti, and a journaling tag from a kit bit. You can also see punchinella and a forget me not.
The major cluster has been created using a wood veneer frame, into which I clustered hydrangea petalswax blossoms, and a wild rose. Also added is a tasselDusty Attic page pebble and spiral stamens.
Enjoy the moment
