Jot Magazine January moodboard challlenge

I haven't had a go at the Jot Magazine challenges for a little while, usually run out of time, or I just don't have the right photos for the challenges. Not this month. As soon as I say this moodboard, I knew just which photo to scrap. Here is the awesome moodboard:
COPYJanuary 2016 - Kim Archer
For this layout, I used a selfie photo of my daughter, that I just loved. I was inspired by the burlap, wood grain and twine. I hadn't set out to use a lot of mixed media on this layout, but ended up with a bit of it, funny how layouts can develop as you are making them. I distressed all of my paper edges, the background paper gave me the inspiration to do this. I just placed down layers and went with it. I used a lovely chipboard piece from 2 crafty, which I left natural. Of course I also added a Charms Creations Heavenly Heart
Life is a beautiful ride
I am really pleased with how this layout turned out, my daughter loves it too.
Thanks for looking and for any comments you may leave.

Jot Magazine January Challenge

I decided to have a go at the Jot Magazine Blog mood board, for January. This one lent itself to a little bit of fun - lots of confetti = celebration and fun.
I have had the photos of my daughters 21st birthday haunting me for some time - haven't scrapped one of them - but this mood board changed that.
Melanie chose a Burlesque theme for her 21st party, a bit risque, with all the corsets etc, but a fun night of dress up and celebration.
Inspiration from the mood board came from the charcoal colour and the confetti - which I have replicated with the sequins on the layout.
I don't normally scrap using a dark background like this, but it worked for the layout. In fact this whole style is so completely away from how I would normally scrap. The idea of the background work came from the peacock costume worn by my niece.
The chipboard elements are from Imaginarium designs, and the lovely flowers are from Little Birdie.
I had a bit of fun adding the mini beads to the layout, a bit of perseverance getting them to stay on the page.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and any comments you may leave.

Jot Magazine November/December Mood Board Challenge

Last month I had a go at doing the Jot Magazine November/December Mood Board challenge, but didn't get it up on the challenge site in time.
This month I am determined it be uploaded.
This was an extremely fun challenge to create for, using the very delicious inspiration board:

I just love the French Provincial feel to this, but, unfortunately, I didn't quite have a French Provincial photo to use to scrap with, but did use a very cute photo of a friends daughter, Charlie. I don't normally do Christmas layouts as a rule, have dabbled, but never created anything special. However, I'm really happy with the way this layout turned out. I used inspiration for the layout, from a scraplift from a layout created by my friend Alison Callcott.
Thanks for the inspiration for this layout Jot girls, and Alison.
