Stuck?! Sketches! July 1 challenge

This month at Stuck?! Sketches! there is an awesome sketch to kick off the month:
No automatic alt text available.
So with this sketch, I changed it a little, although the bones of the sketch are very much there. I decided to use just one large photo in place of the 2, and I flipped the sketch.
Behind the photo, I painted a strip of coloured gesso, and then layered some patterned paper, which also was added to the side.
I had these very large alphas in my stash, just needing to be used for my title, and I love them, am going to have to try to use them again. I embellished with some enamel dots and a Charms Creations super star, plus a D-lish Scraps flair. A couple of stickers finished it off.
I really love how this layout turned out, I hope we see yours too.

Love - D-lish Scraps DT share # 2

Hi again everyone, back for my second share at D-lish Scraps..
This layout is another one of my "texture" themed layouts, and is quite different to my first share.
For this layout, I started by distressing the edge of the paper by sanding it, another textural design.
To the patterned paper, I used a stencil and some texture paste, one of my favourite techniques to add texture to a layout.
Underneath the layers of project life cards, I layed down some cotton twine. With it poking out as it is, it just adds a little more interest to the design.
I then added the project life cards, and placed a piece of torn corrugated card over that - yes more texture. To the side of the photo, I have used a wood veneer with the word LOVE cutout of it, this became my title. To the base of this is the first of my clusters, which includes a wooden deer buttonPinkfresh wood beadD-lish enamel dots, and a Journal It's basic journal spot.
My other cluster includes wirePinkfresh wood beadflair buttoncrochet heart, wood veneer, and enamel dot, all with different types of texture.
So there you go, so many ways to achieve texture on one layout.

Show Us Your Stuff Design Team layout for August challenge

For the August challenge at Show Us Your Stuff, there is a really awesome moodboard to create from:
I just love everything about this moodboard, it is so versatile.
This layout is what I created for my design team layout for this challenge. I chose this cute photo of nephew Levi, up on his fathers shoulders, photo taken recently on a family outing.
I was inspired by the woodgrain, the colours, the tape measurements, burlap, string, the font styles and the word you.
I chose a kaisercraft woodgrain patterned paper, to which I spread gesso and then some subtle paint colour to. I stamped using a date stamp randomly over the background. I added some really old patterned paper that had measuring tape images on it, (knew it would come in handy some day). Then I embellished using the chevrons, buttons, burlap, string and alphas.
I have included 3 Charms Creations chevrons, as my handmade items.
I hope you have a go at this challenge, it really does have endless possibilities, I might even have another go at it myself.
It's fun being with you

Tic Tac Toe Challenge at Charms Creations

The mid month challenge is up at Charms Creations, and this time it is a Tic Tac Toe challenge:
Charm has some awesome naughts and crosses that are perfect for this challenge, and can be found in the shop here. I used some of these on one of my other layouts this month, and couldn't wait to get some more of them.
I chose the line button, something new and twine for my layout of niece Natalie and her baby Levi. My new items are the new Charms Creations embellishments, in the teal colour - gorgeous.
The embellishments come plain, but I sewed on a button to the naught.
The twine in my layout is hidden behind my clusters, and I have a few buttons scattered around the page, including a flair from D-lish Scraps. I made my clusters using some older die cut felt flowers which were in the perfect colours - (drawn from Levi's toy and Nat's top)-  didn't have any paper ones in the same colours. Also added some crochet flowers. The circles in the background represent the circles in the toy.
If you think you might like to have a go at this challenge, it is open till mid July, so still plenty of time.

Show Us Your Stuff June Challenge

Wow, can you believe it is June already? I wish time would slow a little.
This month at Show Us Your Stuff, we are featuring a moodboard, designed by Paula:
Isn't this pretty?
For the layout I created, I was inspired by the phrase, Baby its cold outside. I was initially thinking I would scrap a wintery style photo, but none that I had worked with the colours in this moodboard, and I was quite struck with the blues and orange. So I really concentrated on the word Baby. I used this photo of our nephew Levi, who was a new baby at Christmas, he was snuggled in a blanket, as it was a really cold night here in Melbourne on Christmas night, so that helped me link the word baby and cold together.
For my layout, I also allowed the music in the moodboard to help with my paper choices, which are Maggie Holmes paper and Kaisercraft paper. I allowd the blue and orange colours to guide my embellishment choices.
My handmade embellishments are the lollipop and heart from Charms Creations, the button flair from D-lish Scraps, and a hat pin that I made myself.
I hope you have a chance to have a play with this moodboard.
