Kraft + challenge November - Catch Me when I'm sleeping

This month at Kraft +, the challenge is to be inspired by Pink. No not the colour pink, the singer Pink:

So this can be inspiration by song lyrics, song title, attendance at a concert, etc. 

I must be one of the few who is not a fan of Pink, yes it's out there, I admit it. Sorry to all of you who love Pink, she's just not my cup of tea. So, for me, this was a challenge and a half. I very nearly sat it out. But a challenge is a challenge, and I haven't missed one of the Kraft + challenges yet. 

So, I researched her albums lists and came up with a song from her 2003 album title Try This. The title of the song I chose is Catch Me When I'm Sleeping, and this is what I was inspired by, the title, not the lyrics. 

This was a perfect opportunity to scrap a baby photo, and this one is of my new great-nephew Rome,. First layout I have done of him. 

I included on my layout, one of the gorgeous Charms Creations lush lollipops. 

I had some handmade paper from the E2C retreat this year, from Sirrah Sarrah, which became part of my mat behind my photo. I did include some token gesture bits of pink, in the flowers as well. 

I'm very happy with the layout, even though I found this a challenge.

Charms Creations November challenge - creative team share

This month at Charms Creations, we have this really fun MOvember inspired layout to play along with:

So for this challenge, I chose to use a photo of my husband, way back when he used to wear a moustache, and he wore it when we got married, and were on our honeymoon. It was an 80's thing, lol. 

I chose to use an "O" and a terrific tab, found in the Charms Creations big cartel shop, to which I have added moustache buttons to. 

My overall layout design was inspired by this sketch:

Show Us Your Stuff November challenge - DT share

This month at Show Us Your Stuff, I was the creator of the challenge - and I really hope you like it, and that you will give it a go, this is the challenge:

I am still scrapping photos from a trip I did over 2 years ago to France with my husband, our first time overseas, and now we are considering another trip overseas next year, I better get a wriggle on with my album, lol. 

So with that in mind, I decided my challenge needed to be about travel. But not just about travel, adding other things to the challenge, to make it a challenge. 

I chose to scrap a photo of the Arch de Triumphe in Paris, my travel themed word was explore, and of course, I have done all of this on map paper. I used a lot of collage bits on my page, to really give it a feel of tickets and stubs etc. My handmade item is a map marker from Charms Creations. 

I loved reliving our trip with this layout, I hope you get the same feel with your layout and relive some memories.

CSI colour challenge #180

I am sharing the layout I have done as Charms Creations guest designer for the CSI colour challenge #180. Here is the current challenge:

For this challenge I was a bit stuck with photos/stories about reading or books (found one after I did the layout), so I kind of used my photo and the title to make the link. I chose this photo of great niece and nephew, dressing up with hats, at a baby shower afternoon tea - another link for the story reference. I am relying on a little creative licence here, so the title Mad Hatters, and afternoon tea - link to the story Alice in Wonderland. 

The evidence I used on my layout are - polka dots, banner - from Charms Creations, leaves, metal flowers, decorative border, doilies, scallops and watercolour. I have included a little bookpage "O"with hat button from Charms Creations, to top it off. 

 I did the journalling kind of "table of contents" format - I know it's a stretch.

Mad Hatters

Timeless - D-lish Scraps DT share #3

This is the third of my shares, following on with the theme of adding texture to a layout.

I think this one is actually my favourite of the three, with all the rustic detail.

I started this layout, by mounting patterned paper onto cardstock and stitching it on, which in itself is a textural element.

I added gesso and mists to the patterned paper. To this I then added cotton twine, under my layers of patterned paper. In this close up you can also see I have used some of the many paper flowers available at D-lish Scraps, I have used the hydrangea petals and sweet petites. I have also added a wood veneer flower button.

I added a piece of torn corrugated cardboard under my photo, as well as some bits of torn lace, tucked in under the photo mat. Under my layers of patterned paper, I have added 2 different basic journal spots. You can also see in the cluster a Little Birdie mixed media burlap butterfly. The burlap butterfly helped to tie in the burlap alphas onto the layout.

The next cluster features some coloured wire, hand dyed muslin, Little Birdie Boutique Elements flowers, metal charm, and gold spiral stamens.

So you can see, so many different textural elements, that can be added to a layout.

Love - D-lish Scraps DT share # 2

Hi again everyone, back for my second share at D-lish Scraps..

This layout is another one of my "texture" themed layouts, and is quite different to my first share.

For this layout, I started by distressing the edge of the paper by sanding it, another textural design.  

To the patterned paper, I used a stencil and some texture paste, one of my favourite techniques to add texture to a layout. 

Underneath the layers of project life cards, I layed down some cotton twine. With it poking out as it is, it just adds a little more interest to the design. 

I then added the project life cards, and placed a piece of torn corrugated card over that - yes more texture. To the side of the photo, I have used a wood veneer with the word LOVE cutout of it, this became my title. To the base of this is the first of my clusters, which includes a wooden deer button, Pinkfresh wood bead, D-lish enamel dots, and a Journal It's basic journal spot.

My other cluster includes wire, Pinkfresh wood bead, flair button, crochet heart, wood veneer, and enamel dot, all with different types of texture. 

So there you go, so many ways to achieve texture on one layout.

Charms Creations October Challenge

Hi everyone, this month at Charms Creations, there is a moodboard challenge to be inspired by, designed by me, lol. This is my first moodboard that I have designed, so be kind.

Aren't the colours just lovely? I love all the rustic images this board provides, but I also love those china tea cups - so pretty. So really you could take your inspiration from anywhere on this board. The quote is also really nice. 

So for my challenge layout, I chose to scrap about me, and enjoying the spring sunshine  - FINALLY. It has been a really long and cold winter this year, and frankly I am over it - bring on the warmth. I don't normally say that, I am usually the other way. With spring brings hay fever, so I don't normally look forward to it - this year is different. 

Anyway on my layout, I stamped using a Stampin up stamp, and also the negative of a Scrap FX chipboard sheet, of which the positives are on the layout. 

I used one of the DIY hearts, that was left in my stash, and sprayed it with a resist product, then with dylusions spray. The colour worked out perfectly.
