Kraft plus October challenge

The challenge for October at Kraft plus is just fantastice, and what a great way to use up some supplies from your stash. This time it is the clear stuff - you know acrylics, transparencies etc:

I just love this challenge, so much fun. 

I had this awesome photo of my great nephew Rome, sitting in a tub of water, which was perfect for this challenge. 

I was inspired by guest designer Alison Callcott, who used some clear embossing powder, and used some on mine, in the way of splats, you can just see them most of them were covered by the photo - oops. 

I also used transparencies, there is a 6 x 4 size over the photo, plus some circle shaped ones, to which I then applied some acrylic circles - which I applied some alcohol ink to, to make them blue. I also cut up some bits of bubble wrap, and added them, to appear like drops of water - I saw this done at a retreat I attended earlier in the year - fabulous idea (can't remember who did it though, to credit them). 

I completed my layout, by adding a Charms Creations O (from the XO sets).

I love how this turned out, I think I pretty much covered the clear component.

Scrap Matrix guest DT layout for October challenge - watercolours and words - This moment captured

Hi everyone, I am sharing my first Scrap Matrix guest post. I am so pleased to have been chosen as a guest designer for Scrap Matrix , and have this layout to share with you, for the Watercolour and words challenge for October.

As I was searching the store for products, I came across the awesome Blue Fern Studio Wanderlust patterned papers, and knew this was where I wanted to start my layout for the Watercolour and Words challenge. I had a photo from my 2016 holiday in Hawaii just perfect for the layout, and these papers were so right for the photo. I tore the edges of the papers and layered 3 different sheets together to create the background.  I also stamped on the papers just a little, using the Blue Fern Studio departure stamp.

This Moment Captured

I chose some 13arts rainbow watercolour powders, for the watercolour component to the challenge. These products are new to me, and I have to say, are now a new favourite product, so will need to get a few more colours. I chose sky blue and brown, as they were going to match the papers nicely.

I purchased  a Blue Fern Studio chipboard title for my layout, which I firstly sprayed with gesso, then started to colour with the watercolour powders.

You only need a small amount of the powders, and the more water you add the lighter the colour. I had a couple of different puddles of colour tones that I used to colour my elements.

I purchased some dried roots, that were available in ecru, which I coloured with the watercolour powders, both by painting on and spraying (adding powder and water into mini mister) , and then tucked the roots in around the paper layers:

I stamped some flowers onto watercolour paper, using an archival ink. I then blended the powders adding more water or powder, as required to colour the flowers from light to darker.

I die cut the flowers, and placed these around my layout, surrounding my photo with them:

This challenge is also about words, so I purchased some 7 Dots Studio lost and found word stickers, and scattered these around the layout, including as part of the title.

My journaling was typed onto some cardstock, but I didn’t like the colour match, so I just added a little of the watercolour paper to the cardstock, to allow it to match the rest of the layout.

CSI case file 240 - October 15

The mid month challenge for October at CSI is a beauty, and sure to inspire with it's shabby chic appeal:

I decided to scrap about my daughters 8th birthday, the colours in the photo suited the challenge criteria. 

For my evidence I have used polka dots and stripes, heart, cupcakes, flowers, ricrac, texture paste and I have sprinkled around some confetti. I think I have the evidence covered, lol. 

I really like this challenge for it's soft tones in the pink and blue, but then the pop of red. 

I have used a Charms Creations heavenly heart to finish the layout off.

Show Us Your Stuff October challenge

Wow, it's October already, I can't believe how quickly this year has flown by.
Anyway, it is time for a new challenge at Show Us Your Stuff. I think you will like this one:

When you sit and think about it, there are loads of words starting with F and many products as well, I had FUN with this challenge. 

I created a background using Tim Holtz distress inks, and some stamping. 

The F products I used are: flair (handmade from D-lish Scraps), flowers, frogs, felt embellishment and the word froggo (the name of Dusty's toy frog - sadly demised now lol). 

My other handmade items on the layout is a Charms Creations Denim and hessian arrow and a D-lish Scraps journal it's.

So Show Us Your Stuff with F, and have FUN.

Scrap the Girls October challenge

The new month of October, brings us another new challenge at Scrap the Girls and also Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so our pink challenge is a tribute to this cause:

Even though I have used a photo of a young girl, it is never too young to be breast cancer aware, we should talk about it with our daughters and grand-daughters. 

I used the quote and the handbag as inspiration for my layout, with the pink embellishing. I thought the quote was perfect for the photo of my friends grand-daughter, Addison. It is a clean layout, no mixed media, I decided it needed none. I've got lots of pink scattered over the layout with flowers, and also the Charms Creations heavenly heart and terrific tab. I have used a Scrap FX chipboard dress form, which I coloured pink. The handbag is from the Fancy Pants paper collection that I used for the layout.

White with 1 October challenge

Time for a new challenge at White with 1, with the start of October (already - eek). This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, so we are going pink:

The softness of this pink was tricky to replicate, and I had very little in my stash that was the right tone, so I am afraid the pink is a bit deeper on my layout. I used the sketch this month, it is a lovely sketch from Pagemaps. 

I created the background with my gelli plate, paint and Ken Oliver colour bursts. I had hoped the pink would tone down a touch with the white paint, but it didn't. The rest of the layout came together with stamped images, flowers, die cut feathers and a Charms Creations heavenly heart. 

I hope you have fun with the challenge, but also take some time to be breast cancer aware.

Kraft plus September challenge

This month at Kraft plus the challenge is to use bee related items:

So this is a bit different, and at first a little daunting. Now I couldn't let my record of doing every Kraft plus challenge so far, slip. So I did't back away from the challenge, and I am really glad I didn't as I really love my layout.

The photo is of my great nephew Rome, enjoying some juicy, sweet watermelon, apparently his favourite food. 

I created the background with a stencil and some Tim Holtz grit paste, which gave the hexagons some nice texture. I stamped with a hexagon stamp, cut out some hexagons, and added bit of hexagon chipboard. A couple of stamped bees finished off the bee theme. 

I completed the layout with some pretty Prima flowers and a Charms Creations heavenly heart.
