Scrap Around the World May Challenge

The challenge at Scrap Around the World, is to be inspired by this moodboard:
This is a really pretty moodboard, but I really struggled with it - how can that be? I love doing pretty.
I think I was struggling with the correct photo to choose, but eventually I chose this one of my daughter and her friends.
I was inspired by the colours and the flowers.
I used a MME patterned paper, and added texture paste using a Scrap FX stencil. I then added embossing powder to the texture paste, heat embossed that, and ended up with a raised pattern. I added some radiant rain daubers to this to colour the patterned paper, and make the drips. I stamped using a Stampin up stamp and a Kaisercraft stamp. I cut some chipboard with a Tim Holtz die, and then laid everything over the top of that. I used one of Charms Creations heart embellishments and a range of flowers. I don't mind how this turned out, just wish I had done it a bit differently, and then I'm not sure what I would have done.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and any comments you may leave.

Scrap Around The World April Challenge

At Scrap Around the World this month, there is a really cool inspiration board to be inspired by:
I have had so much fun playing along with these challenges in the last couple of months, and this month was no different. I have enjoyed how much I can get really arty with these challenges, and letting my creativity just flow.
For this challenge, I was inspired by the colours, and the image of the boat with the rope.
I had this photo, which was taken on a holiday in Merimbula back in 2009. I went walking one day. while my hubby and son went fishing, so I played with my camera and snapped some artistic style photos. This photo was perfect for this challenge.
I sprayed the background with some Prima colour bloom spray, then went back with some Lindy's stamp gang spray. I added some texture with texture paste and stencils, and then some stamping. I obtained a new product on the weekend at a Scrapping expo, some Decoart metallic lustre. which I rubbed over the page in different areas, fun product. I chose a selection of co-ordinating patterned papers as a mat for my photo, and added twine and cotton behind the mat. A bit of muslin added to the bottom of the mat as well, to add a bit more fibre texture. The the mica flakes to top it off.
My embellishments include the book page chevron from Charms Creations, and some Scrapmatts chipboard, including the title.
I really enjoyed getting arty with this layout and challenge.
Thanks for looking at my layout and for any comments you may leave.

Scrap Around the World March Challenge

Once again at Scrap Around the World there has been an awesome challenge set for the March challenge, to use the following as inspiration:
For this challenge, I decided to use a photo of this vintage carousel (hence the name), taken on our trip in France. I kept the layout fairly simple, as I didn't want to take away from the intricate detail in the photo.
I was inspired by the colours, the image of the horse (the horses in the photo), the linear aspects in the drawing - which I think I have captured in the vertically striped paper.
I have used a prima stamp in the background, with paper doily and vintage music paper and a variety of mixed embellishments.
Thanks for looking at my layout and any comments you may leave.

Scrap Around The World February challenge

For the February challenge at Scrap Around The World, the challenge was to use the mood board as below:
Now ordinarily I am not a lover of all things green, but this mood board did speak to me, and after seeing so many of the gorgeous layouts going up on facebook, I thought why not - give it a go, it's a challenge after all.
I had a couple of photos I was looking at scrapping for the challenge, but decided on this one, of these really funky lily pads in the Singapore Botanical Gardens, taken on our holiday there last year.
I was inspired by the colours in this mood board, and the flower in the girls hair.
I was given some old flowers from a friends mothers craft stash, the organza lilies that I placed on the layout. I think they finished off my layout. I have also included some Little Birdie burlap flowers, some resin flowers and paper flowers, so a range of different types of flowers. I really enjoyed getting creative with the background, with the texture paste, stencil, misting and stamping and just letting it all happen.
Thanks for the challenge Scrap around the World.
Thanks for looking and any comments you may leave.

Scrap Around the World January Challenge

For the first time I have decided to have a go at the Scrap around the world challenge, and for January, the inspiration has been from this absolutely divine mood board:
Now I love a mood board, but when it has a shabby chic element to it, how could one resist, lol. After seeing so many AMAZING entries shared on face book, I thought I might just have a go at it.
I chose this photo of my daughter, when she was about 18 (she is now 24), as I felt it went really well with the grey tones in the mood board.
I was otherwise inspired to create to this board, by the clock face and the flowers, but the colours - soft muted blues, pinks and greys grabbed me. I hope I have shown this in my layout.
The title is the first couple of words of a quote by William Shakespeare: The eyes are the window to your soul. I wanted the rest of the quote to be subtle on the layout.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and any comments you may leave.
