123 October Challenge

This month I have decided to give the 123 challenge a go, as it was too pretty not to. For October the challenge was to use the following items in a layout:
I love swirls, and the word forever had so many opportunities, the apricot was very nice to work with, who wouldn't give this challenge a go.
I decided to scrap a photo of my daughter Melanie, and a friend Sherrilee, who she has now known for 23 years, since Melanie was a 1 year old. They have always enjoyed each others company, despite
Sherrilee being a bit older.
I created the background using a kaisercraft stencil, ink and then embossed that. I have added a couple of other colours to this layout as accents, but predominantly used the apricot. I have then added some lovely embellishments from Kaisercraft, D-lish Scraps, Heidi Swapp, A lil Somethin, Project Life and Prima - some old things, some new things. I added a wooden swirl to my cluster, and used the work Forever 3 times - in journaling, title, and embellishment.
Thanks for looking at my layout.

D-lish Scraps October Inspiration Board - Scrapping with Tracey

So it seems that what comes around goes around, is very true.
Before I had my blog, my dear friend Alz Callcott was posting my layouts onto her blog, to feature them and link in with challenge blogs. I am now paying it forward, and doing the same thing for my friend Tracey Pirera, who is also having a go at some of the scrapping blog challenges, and I am sharing Tracey's layout for the D-lish Scraps October Inspiration Board Challenge.
Tracey has used the October just add paper kit to create her layout. This kit is available once per month at D-lish Scraps, but be warned, once it's gone, it's gone, lol.

D-lish Scraps October cybercrop - queens challenge

The 5th challenge at the D-lish Scraps cybercrop was the queens challenge by Renee Iverson, her prize for being nominated queen of the September cybercrop (my privelege for the August cybercrop).
Renee's challenge was to feature washi tape - this should have been really easy, but of course, I fussed over this one as well - not sure why I can't just be happy with where I lay things first up - lol.
Anyway, I featured washi tape in my die cut title and balloons and used washi tape in the background.
Another layout of my very cute nephew Lachlan - gotta love this little guy.
D-lish Scraps products used were the wordfetti, monochomatic journaling tags, and button flair.
Thanks for looking at my layout.

D-lish Scraps cybercrop challenge 4

The 4th challenge at the October D-lish Scraps cybercrop was to use purple - arrrgggggghhhhhhh! This is probably the one colour I dislike working with the most, apart from neon, lol. So, I sat down, set to, and battled that demon that is called purple, and I won the victory - yay! I am really pleased with how this layout turned out, will think differently about purple now.
Photo of my daughter and a dear friend of mine, who used to be my daughters family day carer.
D-lish Scraps products used - paper flowers and button flair, plus monochromatic journaling tag.
Thanks for looking at my layout.

D-lish Scraps October Cybercrop challenge 3

Challenge 3 at the D-lish Scraps cybercrop for October was a background challenge - create your own - well that's something I've been doing a bit of lately - should have been easy - right?????????? Wrong!!!!!!!!!!! Oh my, how this frustrated me to tears, I nearly threw it in the bin. But I didn't, I set it to the side and started on something different - so glad I did because when I came back to it, I really loved how it was looking - lol. A lesson for all of us I think.
I had this new Crafters workshop template, so had to use it, I coloured my texture paste, sprayed the background and also stamped. I also used some really nice paper flowers from D-lish Scraps, and flair button.
Photo is of my cute little nephew and Godson Lachlan, who I don't get to see much as we live so far apart.
Thanks for looking at my layout.

D-lish Scraps October Cybercrop challenge 2

The second challenge at the D-lish Scraps cybercrop was to use embossing on your layout, challenge set by Cindy.
I don't do a lot of embossing usually, but would like to incorporate it more in my layouts, so this was nice to do. I didn't struggle with this per se, but struggled that embossing my layout was proving a little basic, until my friend Alz suggested something else. I have not embossed using ordinary ink and embossing powder before, have always used versa ink pad for the embossing powder to adhere to the paper. This time I used ordinary ink with the music stamp, and fine embossing powder which was heat embossed, to give this lovely delicate touch to my layout. I also used some embossed cardstock behind my photo.
Photo of my husband's niece and her father, the photo says it all about their relationship.
Thanks for looking at my layout.

D-lish Scraps October Cybercrop Challenge 1

Last weekend was another cybercrop held by Amanda at D-lish Scraps, with 4 challenges by the design team, and 1 by queen of the last cybercrop Renee Iveson.
The first challenge was a doozy, to use the attached sketch:

Now I'm not great at maths at the best of times, but dividing up my pie to make equal pieces of paper was far more difficult than I anticipated. However, this challenge did what it was meant, challenged me, thanks Ros, and I really enjoyed it in the end, and pleased with my layout. A photo of myself, my husband and in laws taken at a family wedding. I also managed to use a few D-lish Scraps products on my layout, including the gorgeous after 5's black flower, small paper flowers, journal its, wood veneer heart, and gorgeous sequin bow.
Thanks for looking at my layout.
