123 Challenge blog March challenge

The  challenge at 123 Challenge blog is to be inspired by this:
I loved the sound of this challenge, as autumn is my favourite time of the year and I love the colours of autumn. I initially thought of doing a heritage layout for this one, but I couldn't get it to work for me. In the end, I chose this photo of myself and my new friend Tammy, who I met at E2C retreat last year. It was an awesome retreat, and Tammy and I "clicked". So this is the memory that I have scrapped.
I decided the colours I used from autumn would be the brown, red, orange, and the remainder of the green.
I used skeleton leaves, leaves from a Kaisercraft collectibles pack. other paper leaves and some metal leaves.
I also added a Charms Creations terrific tab.
I was inspired by a layout I saw on Pinterest, with the torn papers, which kind of reminded me of old fallen leaves.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and for any comments you may leave.

Charms DT layout for 123 challenge

This month at 123 challenge blog, the challenge is to be inspired by this:
This month at 123 challenge blogCharms Creations is sponsoring the challenge. So I have chosen to use one of the new Hessian Heavenly Hearts on my layout. I love these new embellishments they are going to be so much fun to work with, I reckon they will adapt to anything.
I created my background, by hand cutting the heart shapes into the gold paper, and laying this over the red patterned paper. I have used the word lovely twice on my layout, in the title and on the flair.
My layout is about my sister and her fiance.
So why not give this challenge a go, you might be lucky enough to win the prize from Charm.

123 challenge Guest Designer for July

So, I was given the opportunity to be guest designer at 123 challenge blog, and the challenge for July is fluoro, the word kind and ribbon for the technique.
123 Challenge Blog
Now ordinarily, I would hesitate for such a theme, as I don't particularly like fluoro colours, but this theme worked perfectly for some photos from my 50th birthday last year, I had a 60's theme dress up party, and there were many fluoro colours on that night.
I started by adding some texture paste to the cardstock, then some colour using my gelatos. When I was looking through my stash of products, I was surprised to find that I had many items that actually work for the fluoro colours, especially the ribbon, which I have layed under the photo and matting. I punched around the matting layers randomly.
I had some really funky Charms Creations stars in bright fluoro colours as well, which worked perfectly, along with the after 5's flower. The little resin flowers are ones that I had on my cake table scattered around the cake, and the flower ribbon was in my stash as well. The word kind is in my title, describing this bunch of friends.
I am pretty pleased with how this layout turned out, it is fitting the theme of my birthday party album, lol.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and for any comments you may leave.

123 June challenge

This month at 123 challenge blog, the challenge is to be inspired by the following:
This is a nice way to be inspired don't you think? I had a photo of my extended family that they took just prior to Christmas last year (I live away from my family), so it was nice to have this. I have been wanting to scrap it since I received it, so this challenge was just right.
I created some texture with a stencil and texture paste on a patterned background, then sprayed this with a gold mist. I found some stamps that I overlaid each other with along the sides of the paper. I then used a large foam flower stamp, to which I added some gold embossing powder to give this cool "grungy" look flower. I added some gold washi tape around the border, and stitched around my border. I die cut some feathers in gold cardstock and patterned paper, and stitched down the centre of the gold feathers. I then embossed the word family with the same gold embossing powder. I added a Charms Creations heavenly heart as well.
I love the way this layout turned out, and I sure hope my family do too.
Thanks for looking at my layout and any comments you may leave.

123 May challenge

For the May challenge at 123, the challenge is to use the following in a layout:
123 Challenge
I thought quite a while about this one, I don't love to use banners. I had no shortage of baby photos, we have had a baby explosion in our family, lol. But I just don't love banners! Don't know why, they look so cute, I love it when I see how other scrappers use them, but I feel I struggle with them.
Anyway I finally bit the bullet, and pulled together a layout. I am not sure if I love it, but that's what challenges are for, to challenge our thinking.
So, I was actually inspired by the chenille image in the challenge graphic, and I have quite a bit of chenille in my stash, so thought I would use that with some flannel fabric to make my banner,. I ran the banner under my photo, it looked right there. I've used my beige in the cardstock and in the Charms Creations heart embellishment, and the flannel fabric. I have certainly used baby - in my title and the photo plus the journalling. I guess I have met the requirements of the challenge - still not sure if I love it. The little chippy bear is a Scrap FX design.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and any comments you may leave.

123 April Challenge

This month at 123 challenge blog, the challenge is to use the following as inspiration:
Initially when I looked at this, I was stumped, I don't do a lot with bright pink to start with, so I felt a little bewildered. I looked through my photos, and found this photo of my son, and thought it would be perfect to meet the criteria.
I used a Kaszazz stencil to create the grid pattern in the background with texture paste. I sprayed with some dylusions ink, and stamped using a funky prima drips stamp in the blue ink. I used LOL as an extra part to my title, in the foam thickers.
I have included a Charms Creations star, a release from March, as an accent to tie the blue and pink together. I have made a little mirror out of a small chipboard frame and some aluminium foil. I think it all worked, lol.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and any comments you may leave.

123 Challenge for March

This month at 123 challenge blog, the challenge is to use the following:
This is one of the challenges I decided to take with me whilst on the E2C retreat in South Australia.
I have chosen a photo of my nephews from last year, and used the word See in my title - I SEE 2 cheeky faces. I have embossed the background with a glitter embossing powder, and have splashed the aqua colour around the page elsewhere. I used a heart embellishment from Charms Creations, some old rub ons, seam binding dyed with glimmer mist, and hand dyed muslin and flair button from D-lish Scraps. I have also used some hand made paper from Sirrah Sarrah, a shop that was at the retreat - this paper is divine, and many different styles.
Thanks for looking at my layout and any comments you may leave.

123 February challenge

This month at 123 challenge blog, the challenge is a really fun bright one, using the requirements as below:
Lovely bright colours, which I have found myself using quite a bit of lately. This one is perfect for boy layouts. That's exactly what I chose, using these two photos of my nephews Patrick and Jamieson. They are 2 busy little boys, and obviously need to do what all little boys do, climb trees.
For my layout, I kept it pretty clean and simple, unusual for me, who normally likes to use mixed media. I did do a couple of paint splatters to finish, lol. I used the glitter on my word duo, to make it pop a little.
The tree die cut is a sizzix die, which is pretty cute.
Thanks for looking, and for any comments you may leave.

123 January Challenge

For January, the new challenge at 123 challenge blog was to use the following items to create a layout- colour - lemon, word- appreciate, technique - fold.
I had an idea in my head for this one, to use a photo of my 2 children, my daughter Melanie was assisting my son Kieran to choose his subjects for the next school year. I had an old careers book, that Kieran had highlighted, which I tore out and used on this layout. The word appreciate I used in my title. The colour lemon I feel complemented the photo, but the technique of folding was the trickiest part for what I had chosen to use with the photo. I ended up doing a simple fold of the book pages at the bottom of the layout, but I feel this worked well. I tried to replicate the theme of the book pages in my background work, with a letter/number template and a text stamp over the texture paste.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and for any comments you may leave.
Appreciate your sister

123 October Challenge

This month I have decided to give the 123 challenge a go, as it was too pretty not to. For October the challenge was to use the following items in a layout:
I love swirls, and the word forever had so many opportunities, the apricot was very nice to work with, who wouldn't give this challenge a go.
I decided to scrap a photo of my daughter Melanie, and a friend Sherrilee, who she has now known for 23 years, since Melanie was a 1 year old. They have always enjoyed each others company, despite
Sherrilee being a bit older.
I created the background using a kaisercraft stencil, ink and then embossed that. I have added a couple of other colours to this layout as accents, but predominantly used the apricot. I have then added some lovely embellishments from Kaisercraft, D-lish Scraps, Heidi Swapp, A lil Somethin, Project Life and Prima - some old things, some new things. I added a wooden swirl to my cluster, and used the work Forever 3 times - in journaling, title, and embellishment.
Thanks for looking at my layout.
