Scrap Around the World May Challenge

The challenge at Scrap Around the World, is to be inspired by this moodboard:
This is a really pretty moodboard, but I really struggled with it - how can that be? I love doing pretty.
I think I was struggling with the correct photo to choose, but eventually I chose this one of my daughter and her friends.
I was inspired by the colours and the flowers.
I used a MME patterned paper, and added texture paste using a Scrap FX stencil. I then added embossing powder to the texture paste, heat embossed that, and ended up with a raised pattern. I added some radiant rain daubers to this to colour the patterned paper, and make the drips. I stamped using a Stampin up stamp and a Kaisercraft stamp. I cut some chipboard with a Tim Holtz die, and then laid everything over the top of that. I used one of Charms Creations heart embellishments and a range of flowers. I don't mind how this turned out, just wish I had done it a bit differently, and then I'm not sure what I would have done.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and any comments you may leave.

Scrapping Outback May challenge

For the May challenge at Scrapping Outback, the white with a twist challenge, with inclusion of chipboard, is to be inspired by this image:
I love this colour combo, it is so fresh, and I have used it before in my scrapping.
I chose this photo of myself and my friend Vicki, who came to Melbourne for a visit. We visited this quirky and quaint cafe for morning tea, for their specialty - scones - each scone is different, and has a name, such as Mabel, Mary, Hazel - very cute. The cafe is decorated with quaint retro decorations, so out of the 50's. So we had our scones and tea/coffee, and then wondered around the cafe, which had a pink caravan out the back, where one could partake of scones, chooks and an old outhouse - useable. Out the front was a bike, and a photo booth - so PHOTO OPPORTUNITY, lol. It was an enjoyable day.
Anyway, I digress. for my layout, I stencilled with a TCW stencil and texture paste, then spread the aqua colour using Radiant Rain dauber, added a few flicks of red dylusions and green glimmer mist. A touch of stamping with Stampin up doily stamps, some cotton thread, and my decorations. The chipboard pieces are RW laser cuts, they've been in my stash for a while, but I really think they were meant for this layout, lol. I coloured them with wink of Stella. The papers and die cuts are Crate paper. I added a few small beads around as well.
I love the quirkiness to this layout, as much as I loved the quirky cafe. Will be taking more visitors there for some scones and tea.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and any comments you may leave.

123 May challenge

For the May challenge at 123, the challenge is to use the following in a layout:
123 Challenge
I thought quite a while about this one, I don't love to use banners. I had no shortage of baby photos, we have had a baby explosion in our family, lol. But I just don't love banners! Don't know why, they look so cute, I love it when I see how other scrappers use them, but I feel I struggle with them.
Anyway I finally bit the bullet, and pulled together a layout. I am not sure if I love it, but that's what challenges are for, to challenge our thinking.
So, I was actually inspired by the chenille image in the challenge graphic, and I have quite a bit of chenille in my stash, so thought I would use that with some flannel fabric to make my banner,. I ran the banner under my photo, it looked right there. I've used my beige in the cardstock and in the Charms Creations heart embellishment, and the flannel fabric. I have certainly used baby - in my title and the photo plus the journalling. I guess I have met the requirements of the challenge - still not sure if I love it. The little chippy bear is a Scrap FX design.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and any comments you may leave.

Off the Rails Scrapbooking May Challenge

This month at Off the Rails there is this mood board to be inspired by:
I loved the graphic images in this mood board, but found the red and pink colours a bit tricky to match. I still don't think I got them right. I was inspired by the butterfly and the vintage books, and also the quote, although twisted my take on this with my title - treat yourself.
Anyway, I chose to scrap this photo of my parents from when they were visiting Melbourne at Christmas time. We had a day out in the Yarra Valley, and seriously they were like kids in a lolly shop at the chocolaterie - buying up big, and enjoying a you beaut icecream which is a specialty of the chocolaterie.
For my layout background I used a TCW stencil and texture paste to create the butterflies, and the  peacock design, dylusions ink spray and Heidi Swapp colour sprayed over the background and texture paste. I also added a subtle amount of stamping to the background.  I used patterned paper from Crate Paper and Stampin up behind my photo. My embellishments include the vintage paper heart from Charms Creations, and a paper lollipop flower made by Chellejamo.
Thanks for looking at my layout and for any comments you may leave.

Kraft + May challenge

This month the challenge at Kraft+, there is a delicious mood board to be challenged by:
I just loved the colours and designs in this. Countless designs could have been created for this one, alas, I don't have time to do any more than 1. Anyway, I chose to use a photo of our nephews, 2 cute little dudes (Kalden I scrapped last month as well). I loved this photo of them reading, and thought it would go well with the mood board.
I was inspired by the colours, working with the orange, green and blue. I was also inspired by the denim, the vintage books and the twine.
I used a vintage book cover as the backing to my photo, and also some pages out of the vintage book. I added the twine behind my embellishments, and my lollipop embellishments were made by me a little while ago, using denim and some scrap fabric that surrounded a bunch of flowers. I sprayed the kraft cardstock with dylusions spray and added some Heidi Swapp colour mist. I had some rub-on alphas that were in the same colours that I scattered around the page to tie in the theme of reading and learning. I used a Charms Creations denim star embellishment and a D-lish Scraps button flair.
I am really pleased at how this layout turned out.
Thanks for looking at my layout and any comment you may leave.

Show Us Your Stuff May challenge

For May the challenge at Show Us Your Stuff, is a sketch challenge, using this sketch:
It'a a nice versatile sketch, which I am sure you will have fun with.
As May is the month in which we celebrate mothers, I chose to scrap a photo of my sister and her son, taken on Mothers Day last year. I live away from my family, but last year went to visit them all, and it was the first Mothers Day, I had spent with family and my own mother in more than 30 years. It was quite special.
For my layout, I chose to use a stencil and some silver paste to create some texture in the background. I then added some decorative paper trim and patterned paper, plus varying embellishments. My handmade items include a Charms Creations mini heavenly heart, and a handmade heart from a scrap swap many years ago with friends.
Hope you feel inspired to have a go at the challenge.

Scrap the Boys May challenge

For May the challenge at Scrap the Boys, is to use this image as inspiration:
I had a couple of photos I was considering for this layout, but eventually decided to use this photo of my son, as a teenager, doing one of his favourite things - ride his bike over jumps. As most kids do, he really enjoyed riding his bike, and doing that boy thing.
For my layout - I started with a Scrap Fx stencil and texture paste. I then lightly coloured this with some gelatos. I added some mist, washi tape and rubbed on some metallic lustre. Behind the photo, I added some coloured punchinella. The chipboard circles is a Words Or Whatever chipboard shape. Of course, it wouldn't have been completed without a chevron embellishment from Charms Creations, which I think works perfectly here. I am quite pleased how this turned out, with the circles of the stencil replicating the bike wheels.
Thanks for looking at my layout, and any comments you may leave.
